I would like to file a K-1 petition for my fiance in Guyana. We have seen each other more than once over the last three years and most times our trips are either one to two months long. I am a US citizen, but I do not have enough income to proof that my fiance would not become a burden and needs welfare assistance. I know I need a cosponsor to file the affidavit of support. My question is, My cosponsor has a total household of two, would they have to include my fiance and I when filing the affidavit of support, thus increasing their household to four for the poverty guideline minimum income. Also, my cosponsor owns a home and has various investments, can their income alone and other proof of finances be enough for me to file for my fiance. I have believe I have enough evidence to show that our relationship is real. I have pictures, phone records, travel itineraries, letters, postcards, and etc, but I do not have enough income. Over the last three years, I have earned approximately 4500 per year.

The co-sponsor counts his household plus the immigrant but not you, so looks like a household of 3 for them.

Yes, they can count assets.
