Hey guys, I'm both Employed and Self Employed. I make all my money being employed and I'm a shareholder in another business where I lose a little money but still way over the poverty level. So should I select both boxes? However, it does not let me pick both when attempting to type it in. That is unless I fill in everything with a black pen. So what should I do?

Thanks

In cases like this, the safest thing to do is fill it in accurately (here that seems to be both boxes), and then note that they should see an attachment for a full explanation. On your attachment, just state the situation as you have here (but of course with more specific detail), and then also add any helpful additional documentation (shareholder certain, ex.) that corroborates what you stated.

I was in a similar situation. I work full time and have a business on the side. I filled it out with my day job salary. Your tax return will show the business profits and losses from your self-employment activities.

Ok thanks for the information...i guess I will check off both boxes and then put an attachment explaining why

well that what I don't want to have happen....check off the day job only and then have them send me an RFE because on my tax return it shows that I'm a shareholder..you know?

We did not get an RFE. No problem at all.
