Thanks everyone for the response, my fiance and I talked about it and also we went to a broker and said we can't apply for a health insurance until we get proof of residency (green card),so I guess we're not going to have a health insurance this year. My only concern now is how to get a social security for my son, the social security officer here in vegas told us that they require i766 form for my son but he did not explain how to get it. I have no idea what is that hehe. I tried to google it but still it's not clear for me (sorry :-(. ) We badly need need that because some schools are requiring to have SSN. HUHUUHU

Fire the broker and get someone that knows what they are doing. I had health insurance for BOTH our K-2 sons within 20 days of their arrival. The first of the month following the day we got married.

I am not guessing. My wife arrived on the 11th of the month, we were married on the 19th of the month and the health insurance went into affect for her and the children on the first of the next month. It was arranged in advance several months before she arrived.

Get a letter from the SS office that your son is not yet eligible. A minor child can prove residence by his visa and your marriage license. PLEASE, deal with someone that knows how to help you if you do not know yourself.

We got the same issue, I called my health insurance ( Kaiser ) for my daughter, and they told me that she needs to have SSN or ITIN to be included on my health insurance. I will apply for an ITIN. While waiting for her AOS, EAD. She has to have health insurance as soon as possible because getting sick is very expensive without insurance.
