I was brought up right, i just make the choice to not call him mr or president. Has nothing to do with my parents or the way they raised me just bc i use my own mind.

But he is the President, whether you call him so or not. You can call an apple an orange all day long, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still an apple.

But that's ok..you can have your lil 'rebellion' if it makes you feel better  Technically, you're disrespecting your countrymen since Bush was actually elected in a free democracy, but whatever

lil 'rebellion' ??? hahahaha you make me laugh, i make a choice to do something that YOU wouldnt do and im a lil 'rebellion'

as far as the rest of it, i am not disrespecting my countrymen just bc i choose not to call him president. When he begins to act like one ill start to call him one, until then he is BUSH. :D

When I said 'poor upbringing' I wasn't referring to what someone calls the President in threads or conversation.

I was referring to proper terms of address in business and diplomacy.

I agree! I am insulted when my six year old daughter's friends call me by my first name. I still call my neighbors Mr and Mrs Smith or Mr and Mrs whatever. I would never of called a adult by there first name when I was a child. Where did this go ? I insist on my daughter addressing adults PROPERLY and with RESPECT.

I agree. I live down on the Gulf Coast and when an adult asks my daughter something, she responds "Yes Ma'am" or "Yes Sir"....that's how they are taught here in schools and in the community. Susie has been here a week now and she asked me why doesn't my daughter say Dad when she replies to me. I told her that it's a show of respect and that's how they are taught in school. She still calls me Dad, but when she's talking to an adult, it's always with respect. I had to explain this to Susie.

Growing up in SoCal, I rarely used the words Sir or Ma'am...almost never unless I was speaking to a police officer (didn't want to get in trouble). Since joining the military 17 years ago, using these titles is second-nature.

So, it does have something to do with upbringing...children around here never call adults by their first name unless they were brought up not to show the proper respect.

Technically, you're disrespecting your countrymen since Bush was actually elected in a free democracy, but whatever

Is there some kind of procedural manual defining what it is to disrespect one's countrywomen? You are stretching here. He wasn't elected by everyone in a free democracy, so taking your opinion from above, we can say that referring to him as "Mr." is disrespecting your countrywomen who didn't vote for him.

It's a courtesy, plain and simple. I don't like everyone that I've worked for over the course of my life, but I always addressed them by their title and/or rank.

Yeah, I'm sure you called addressed the previous president as President Clinton, even though he didn't act like one. Shoving Montecristos inside an intern is hardly an act worthy of respect, but that didn't stop you from addressing him as a president.

Courtesy to whom? None of us are ever going to speak to Bush directly, so he's scratched off the list of those the courtesy might be for. So that leaves conversations and discussions amongst friends and in forums like this. Bestowing courtesy implies, IMO, you have some respect for the person. I don't respect him, I don't call him "Mr." or "President".

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.
