Need Insight: DMV (DDS) GA Road Test PASS but no license issued

So I came in today for a road test walk in at DMV.

Was lucky to be entertained. :)

However on the counter the lady told me I can't do the road test since I don't have my gc.

But I had my permit already which confuses me.

They did let me take the road test (and I passed! Yey!)

But they won't issue the license without the greencard (which i don't know when will arrive).

I used my EAD and initial Receipt of Notice for as identification and lawful presence proof.

any advise on what else to do?

TIA

Not much you can do but wait, nice thing is you will have your license once the GC arrives.

One of the reasons they want to see the green card is because the expiration date for the license will coincide with the GC expiration.

My wife used her EAD card to get her permit also, but had her GC by the time she got her license so she had no delay there.

My wife got her green card about 2 months after she got her EAD

I've been issued DL for the duration of my EAD without any problems. Now it's about to expire, I will go to DMV again and they will reissue DL for the duration of my GC which I received months ago.

Hi there,

We have the same case. After I took the written exam, they gave me a temporary license which was good for 90 days then a day before it expired I went back to take the Driving Test. 3 weeks after, I received a letter in the mail that they couldn't complete my driver's license application process before the USCIS will verify my green card status with another temporary license good for 5 months. So I guess this is a new process.

I hope EAD alone will do, too long to wait for the GC and can't drive alone. .. You' ll lucky if you'll get in just 6 months.
