Seriously. What's so cool about a bunch of guys running around and kicking a ball?

You are not really from the UK, are you?

I never go with the flow, Rey. When people love something unconditionally, I have to question it.

But when you grow up surrounded by that you kind of get used to it.

I grew up surrounded by it. Which probably explains why I hate it so much.

And you are right! You should always question that sort of behavior...

I do not like football because of the game itself, but because it is something that brings people together.

Living in a country that offers you no hope, often times people get attached to things that to others sound silly and pointless.

A country that offers you no hope? Cue tiniest violin in the world...

Nice to see Tancredo digging himself a deeper and deeper hole.

Do you think Americans would embrace bilingualism if the language were German or Swedish? Finnish? What if the language was spoken pretty much exclusively by developed countries, like those languages?

Honestly I think that's the issue with Spanish that most people have.

Do you really think the VJ Mexican / Latino cheerleading squad would pipe in so religiously or even give a ####### about these little nuggets that I post if the language in question were German, Swedish, Finnish, etc. and the people in question were European?

Americans didn't embrace bilingualism for them (or anyone else), so why argue with success by making an exception for Latinos?

And if Tancredo is digging his own grave...why do these people go to such great lengths to silence him (even with threats of violence and thug tactics)? I guess some people can't handle the truth and they sure as hell don't want others to have the freedom to hear it.

well.. again.. im thankful for the govt to have spanish services, it has helped me a lot, and has shortened phone calls that could have been 1 hr to 20min, why? well usually there's a lot lost in the translation.. i don't have anything to say about the govt using or not spanish-english signs, good if they do good if they don't.. i really don't care if the illegals read it or not, it saves me time, and that's what matters to me

the thing that cracks me up is how these guys try to make this crazy plot and 'they want to impose spanish on us' because some businesses have 'se habla español' signs, or as if a bunch of cholos are threatening the business owner if they don't speak spanish.. sh!t, if they dont have bilingual personnel, they just go to other store who has one.. there's no obligation from any part.. its simply business, not imposing anything.. again, there are businesses that require you to have email accounts and use a computer and email.. the same thing with learning spanish, you either decide to learn it or not.. it's called being competitive..

In Mexico since 5 or more years ago everybody decided to go bilingual, even if the position was a menial clerical position they decided to ask for bilingual employees, why? maybe someday some american would go there to ask for a service.. now, i'm not saying 'oh we do it guys you too'.. but, i don't see this spanish-english thing as an imposing thing, just another competitive advantage to people who decide to learn another language..

and again I didn't see examples of 'the tragedy of bilingualism' the canadians are 'suffering'.. probably tancredo hasn't been in canada ever.. he just goes to the bbq's with the southern hate groups as he's done for the last months..

zomg!

Give me a break! I seriously doubt (or anybody would assert) that the government of Mexico has imposed bilingualism to the extent of the US government. Businesses are free to do what they want in a free enterprise system. If non-Hispanics don't feel comfortable in a store in America...they won't go there and spend their money.

So what are you insinuating...Tancredo is going to KKK BBQ's? Names and dates please. If you are going to smear somebody...at least back it up with facts.
