I feel you.. sorry about what happened.. hoping everything will be okay

Thanks icedblu 15,

We are still discussing it.

My fiance did not sleep last night, today his hands are actually shaking at work, as he is that upset. We have discussed our lawyer and he wants to terminate their services immediately, apparently he drafted 13 or so emails last night. I can't believe a lawyer could cause so much upset. It's not the first time though. It's been awful the past 24 hours, both of us at some point have shed tears regarding it all.. I feel like ####### and I really don't know how I will get through work later today.

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

Hi Anna,

Well last night it all exploded with the lawyer, resulting in a massive argument with my fiance and I. And the reason for this is because we asked should we be filling in addresses from when I was 16 years old. Apparently not, they don't seem to like the fact that we have researched and we have queried and so I am in the line of attack getting a rather venomous email, shifting the blame onto me and my fiance. My fiance and I are still as I speak arguing regarding it all. I feel miserable.

This sounds exactly like our lawyer. I also had problems because the US lawyer got confused between the different embassies. I know it is difficult to keep up to date with all the embassies but he knew he was supporting us at the UK embassy.

I wished that I had discovered this site before engaging our lawyer. We would have save a lot of time, money and pain. It is not surprising that you and your fiance are arguing about this. The stress of being apart is bad enough. Add this on top of that stress, then you are bound to argue. Although my fiance and I had heated discussions about this (luckily we were physically together at the time), we jointly decided to jettison our lawyer and go on alone. It was the best decision we ever made. Things went so much more smoothly after that.

If any one has recently filled in a DS160 form online for the K1 visa please help me. The situation is that my lawyer wants to fill in the form online, on my behalf she is asking questions that I am not sure are irrelevant to this form.. I.e all the places I have lived since I was 16. I can't remember what I did yesterday, never mind what I was doing 32 years ago an I am getting increasingly stressed about it. Obviously, if I need to answer the questions regarding that I will do, but she has already made me fill out a DS156 and then told me I didn't need to do that. So please, please I would be eternally grateful for any info regarding this form.

Thanks in advance.

DS=160 is very very easy form and it tells you what to do and how to fill out. you dont need a lawyer for that.

as for where you have lived since you were 16 ofcourse DS-160 does not need that, the question in the form is which countries you have been within the last 5 years

Hey shell, this sort of happened to us to. His parents were over from the States visiting in April (stressful, my first meeting) and CSC had stopped processing I-129fs and then I found out about DCF and freaked out that we'd done 100% the wrong thing despite taking to lawyers. Got mega stressed. Very upset about lawyer incompetence, I unfairly blamed hubs too (he wanted the lawyer more than I did). I pretty much lost the plot for a couple days - I was very, *very* upset about wasted time, unknown time frames, a wreck at work. etc. etc. We argued about what to do.

We both felt immediate relief when we fired the idiot lawyer who'd wasted our time and took back the control for ourselves. Joining together to fire her because she'd caused a large portion of our worries and frustration united us to get the new paperwork done.

You've got a tiny bit of paperwork left. The DS-2001 is done online now too. YOU'RE ALMOST DONE. This whole process is insanely stressful - arguments are not surprising. But I promise that once you've got off that plane, you'll have a hard time remembering how you got so worked up. The relief of getting the visa washes away a huge amount of that damage. It will work out.

Is it possible the lawyer is looking for places where he needs to get police certificates for you?

Either way, unless you have a serious problem like sex offender registry or 3 DUI or drug convictions, you really don't need a lawyer. That is my opinon and the opinion of most other people here.
