If I answer Yes on the medical for previous trouble with the law under the influence of alcohol am I going to receive a temporary suspension or ban and have to wait for a year etc while im rehabilitated?

Im inclined to try and lie if thats the case because its silly if the incidcent in name was 5 years ago and I am not an alcoholic, I rarely drink at all anymore, like 10 times a year.

Is it on your police certificate? That must be taken to the medical in London so they will know what kind of alcohol or drug related incidents you have had. I suppose it keeps some people from lying about it.

Moderator hat off: it depends what exactly happened. If you got a DUI or two, it should not be a problem. If you seriously harmed someone while under the influence of alcohol, yes that will be a problem, but as the previous reply said, they will know anyways due to the police cert.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
