My fiancee and I now each othe for les than a year but we spend most of our days chatting (every day since we knw each other) and have met once in person. Thank you

The only requirements for the petition to be approved is that you have met your fiancée within the past two years before filing the I-129F and you send in letters of intent to marry. Now for the visa approval you will need to do a lot more given you are applying at one of the highest visa fraud Embassy's on Earth. You will need to visit several times and follow local customs. If there are any red flags due to the fact that your relationship does not follow cultural norms, be prepared to overcome those. I have seen people from Nigeria approved, but it is not very easy.

Good luck,

Dave

For Lagos the burden of proof lays more on you proving a bonafide relationship. That's why many decide to marry.

If there is a big age gap (the woman the USC older ...more than 10 years, than Nigerian man) forget about a K1. I have yet to see an approval. But they get approved when married and its usual ever a n issue.

How long together did you spend when you were together? Did you meet all the family in Nigeria(I am assuming you th USC are the woman and he the immigrant is the Nigerian)?

Visits, Family and friends pics to back it up is very very key to success for a successful approved interview.

Thanks once again for your advise and comment... To be sincere you scared me when you said Lagos is the highest visa fraud Embassy's on Earth.

My fiancee is a USC woman while i'm a non nigerian man with residence in Nigeria, can these have a positve influence on the out come of our case. We met only once in person, we have pictures and videos as well facebook, viber, sms daily communication.

Excuse me, when they say meeting in person within 2 years does it mean that your relation should be at least 2 years old?

Well like anywhere else you just have to prove the bonafides of a relationship. How long was her visit. With Lagos its facetime, meeting family and friends. Has she meet them skype with them they wrote her or vice versa. Things nigerians go through you may face same scrutiny.

I understand that you're not a Nigerian so was this safe neighboring country your country of origin or another country all together?

To answer your question, yes you can go through the USCIS stage after meeting the "once in two year threshold", based on what you wrote though I am not certain that you have a convincing evidence for DOS.

But one VJer did pass through Lagos with one meeting but she was in Nigeria.

It means when you send the petition you must have met face to face within the last two years, and have included evidence to prove the fact (passport stamps, plane tickets etc.).

@Gowon

Thanks for your comment. The safe neighboring country wasn't my country of origin because besides the difficulties encountered for my fiancee to get visa to my country, it was cheaper for me to meet with her there than in my home but i invited family from my country to that neighboring country...We have pictures and video together. Another concern i have is how to use videos as proofs.

One thing I would really caution you is expounding on the "danger" of your fiancee' coming to Nigeria to be with you. The CO could look at you not wanting her there to hide a family, wife whatever (you would be surprised). many have done it I did lived there. I have many friends living with spouses and fiance's during the Visa process with no wahala.

I know in my evidence when we both wrote our letters (we were married but bot wrote why we want to live together in US) and talked of why we couldn't visit and sightseeing like we wanted to in Nigeria when I was there it was due to the violence during elections(2011) and two kidnapping attempts on my life. I had presented right off the travel.gov website the advisory for Americans to not even go out during day or night in Port Harcourt. It even mentioned our very neighborhood/province to not venture out.

What I am saying is if you are going to state why she couldn't come to the country you were at you better back it up with evidence. You meet each other on a neutral country and you brought in your family have good proof for that. It may seem weird or fishy (this is Lagos you choose to go through). You could have very well "hired" anyone to stand as your family since your finacee' will not have seen them in their home envirnoment.

Not saying you did, I am giving you food for thought and how a CO may see things. Now you see what you have to do. Just some tips.

Can I ask what is your home country?

The truth is that when we were preparing to meet we had no idea about filing i-129f, the purpose was to know each other better... it's while there that we made up our minds to be together for life, it's during a visit to US embassy that we knew about the petition for fiancee...

In our initial plan we were to visit both Nigeria (my country of residence) and Cameroon (my home country) but it was difficult for her to secure two visa at a time because she was enjoying here leave and had only a week for the visa, coupled with the fact that she had another journey to Mexico that same week to return two days before her departure to meet me, so we settle for Lome in Togo which Visa procedure was faster and she got in one day while for Cameroon she had to send her passport and wait for 7 days....As for the security reason, i live in nothern Nigeria where USC weren't permitted to visit and terrorist attacks are constant.

Please i really appreciate your comments and advise, they are so important even though it scares me a lot...We love each other so much we spend the over 8 hours of the day talking, chating, sms together. In fact with time difference I spent most of my night awake, so does she.

More advise please!!!!

USC are permitted anywhere in Nigeria though they are advised not to travel into dangerous areas.

Abuja is littered with USCs as well as other foreigners. Terrorists attacks are not constant in Northern Nigeria though there is a high possibility of a random attack in certain areas.

I write these things so that you can prepare a good defense for not having your SO visit you in Nigeria.
