NVC and Case number

I received and was told my petition was being forwarded to the NVC. I noticed that they assign a case number but have no idea how I would find it. And once I have it what will I do with it. Can anyone let me know.

well if your case is already there they may give u the case number i got my noa2 nov 5, have been 15 days since uscis sent me a notice saying they sent my petition to nvc , today i called them, they havent still got my case. when your case was approve?

I think I am right on this. Keep calling NVC until you get your case number, and then when you get the hard copy in the mail, you can schedule the interview, medical is first come first served, at least in the Philippines.

Once they've assigned you a case number, you can check the progress of your application on CEAC. That will tell you when NVC has forwarded it to your consulate so you know when to expect the Package 3 and to schedule your appointments.
