I 134 with Tax Return????

My fiance has his interview in a week and a half, so I am trying to figure this Affidavit for support paper out. It says that I need to attach last years Tax Return (1040) to the form. The problem is that I wasn't working in the country last year, or the year before. So, I do not have one.... What should I do?!?!?!

I'm a little confused: what were you intending to do to show support or were you unaware of the form? This was a big worry for me and I had everything in place ages before his interview because of my health issues and inability to work full-time. Do you have any income at all? I'm not trying to be nosey, just helpful.

For example, if you have a lot of assets (real estate, money in the bank, etc) they can also consider that; I believe that is on the second page of the I-134. You have the ability to list your assets but it has to be 3 times the amount needed.

Do you have your pay stubs or a statement from an official at your bank?

I have pay stubs for the past 3 months, and a letter from my employer, as well as a letter from my past employer (in honduras) saying how much I made. I am thinking I am going to have my mom fill out a I 134 too, just in case they will need a co-sponser.

Even if you are a person who works in a foreign country, and you are a US citizen you are required to file your taxes.

Were you unaware of this or is there a stipulation that says you are not required to do so? There are some exclusions, exemptions but you still must file.

I would look into it quickly, because if you owe the IRS you will have problems getting your visa. Better to know what you may encounter if they ask you why you did not file in the past and you have the wrong answers.

I believe you still had to file even if you were not in the country. The embassy will ask for that. Also, get the co sponsor fill the form just in case.
