Hi,

Today we received an interview letter for I-485 after finishing biometrics on November 29. We never received an RFE. This interview letter talks about what to bring at the interview and things like that.

It says.........." You are hereby notified to appear for the interview appointment, as scheduled below, for the completion of your Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Form I-485) and any supporting applications or petitions."

In the top box, letter has priority date, application number and other information along with the Request for applicant to appear for initial interview. I'm not sure what the word "Initial" means. Do all interview letter for the I-485 says Request for applicant to appear for initial interview ? Is it normal to have word initial in this text?

Please let me know.

Thanks.........

So does everyone (whether they are filing I-485 after k1 or k3) get the same text with initial? Is this the tile they used for everyone?

Thanks......

I guess it's just the way they word it. I can't speak for everyone, but my letter says exactly that. I guess, not only k1 or k3, but everyone else as well gets a request to appear for "initial" interview.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong! :)

Sorry, I don't really know if every office uses the word "initial", but I've seen this question posted in the forum here several times and it appears to be quite common. Sometimes they have people come back for more than one AOS interview, also when you go to lift conditions if you have a conditional green card, you might be interviewed again.

What was the purpose of the first interview? What did they ask in the first interview? What did they say after the first interview?

Please let me know.

Thanks.....

Well we thought it was just going to be our AOS interview, to be denied or approved. But they wanted more evidence from us as we havent been married that long. So we sent that in and then had our 2nd AOS interview, and we are waiting to hear if my hubby has been approved.

They asked how we met, how long we knew each other, how many times we had seen each other in person, then seperated us and asked questions about our work schedules, how the house was layed out, if either of us had tattoos, if we drank coffee  who sleeps on what side of the bed ect.

But as far as your letter saying your intial interview, i think that is just how they word it.

So you got the interview letter and since you didn't have enough evidence at the interview, they asked you to come again. Is it correct?

If it is, what do you think is the enough evidence to prove your relationship with your wife?

Thanks....

Yes we had to submit more evidence and then had another interview.

As far as evidence goes this is what we had..

Joint bank statements

marriage license

Health insurance, with both our names on it

Beneficary for life insurance

utility bills

plane tickets from visits

phone bills from when we dated

any piece of mail with both our names on it

wedding photos

photos from trips to see each other

home equity loan

auto insurance in both names

if you do a search in this subject im sure you will find what others submitted for evidence as well, hopefully this helps you :)

And that evidence was NOT enough?? I'm trying to figure out if that's the evidence you had at the first interview, or the second.. cos my husband and I have all that and more (except auto insurance in both names since I don't drive and utility bills since I only just applied for my social)
