Hey guys,

Our petition left the NVC today and is headed for Costa Rica. So, we're excited about that. However, I sent my fiance some forms for the interview, the most important being the affidavit of support with an original signature. I sent these documents through USPS on October 23rd, and they STILL have not arrived in CR. So it really irritates me because it seems like those documents are going to be what holds us up. We plan on scheduling an interview ASAP because we have a baby due on November 20th and we want daddy to get here ASAP! So my question is this. Does the affidavit of support absolutely NEED to have an original signature, or can we can a copy and send that to him for the interview? I feel like even if I send out another affidavit, who knows how long it's going to take to get there. I would rather not spend $100 on a super quick shipping time, but If I have to, I will............. What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Megan & Pablo

Gonna have to be an original document I fear, as the others have said.

I would probably find out what your actual interview date is going to be, and go from there with how you re-send it.

It's a bummer and you hate to do it, but it happens. I had to re-send my Letter of Intent, notarized, and make sure it got there in a few days before her interview, because they scheduled the interview for one day after our petition expired and London requires that to re-validate it, cost me $50 for no good reason, but it's all part of the journey I suppose.

@ Meghan, so sorry to hear that your affidavit hasn't arrived yet :(. Our co-sponsor sent the signed affidavit via priority mail at the post office from Minnesota and it got here in less than a week and she paid under $50. Hope it gets here soon!!! We are almost ready to make our interview appointment too, sooooo exciting!!! Good luck!!!

Hey everyone! Thank you for your responses. Update: the documents were received today. It turns out that the mail man "was sick" and didn't get around to delivering a few days worth of mail. Weird, but, whatever! Thanks again for your help.
