mmmmmmmm..........

now from that post it's very evident to everyone who still is reading this thread (probably no-one cos Charles has turned it about himself again) that Charles has just done a search on my last posts (stalking as usual, a trait that Charles is very familiar with).......

and then of course he concludes his message with a nice little pic/avatar meter thing, probably from his collection........

you keep throwing them at me Charles and I'll keep hitting em out the balll park.........

Charles is one of those people who can't handle a debate - so instead of posting something related to the topic, the only thing he can motivate himself to do is rubbish the topic.

Free speech and all that of course - but "lazy big mouth" is the image that jumps out at me ;)

Is it the news story he objects to - or just my commentary on it. We may never know...

Expect the thread to go off the rails at this point as Charles makes it all about him, or goes off on a spirally tangent of semantic irrelevance.

never a truer word was spoken...........

Seems the lefties can't decide if sending more troops is a good idea or not (probably because they don't HAVE a plan). The only thing we can be sure of is that they will criticize whatever the President does.

Interestingly there doesn't seem to be much of a plan at the moment, Rumsfeld's sacking was a direct indictment that the public at large have no confidence in a strategy that had become little more than a series of slogans and stale soundbites. I don't know about you but I hate the words "cut and run", not just because of how hackneyed the phrase has become but because it has become an excuse for doing and changing nothing.

We are currently waiting the "new plan", which the White House has yet to announce in the new year. Certainly there is an element of speculation and "wait and see" about that - and it will be on this new strategy that both the White House and the new Senate / Congress will be judged on. Bush has said that he will reject anything amounting to troop withdrawal - so what else can be done BUT find a way to increase troop levels, and extend

Similar is it that there is no plan, or that we have maneuvered ourselves in a situation with extremely limited options? There is a very loud chorus of opinion that is saying that we can't win this (and impose democracy) solely through military means. We are already hearing from the horse's mouth that our own troops don't trust the new Iraqi police and army, which by all accounts is shaping up to be a hotbed of corruption and rebel sympathisers.

IMO - we will still be stuck in this mess by the time the next presidential election comes around, with no end in sight.

MESS? ####### is the mess? anything you disagree with? RIGHT! The mess is whats comin outta your mouth! do you want a link to where you can bye a bib? I have yet to hear a remedy from you or anyone of your ILK. Get out of your Fkin arm chair, sittin on the PORCH bu!!shite! People like you ARE the problem. I can sit here all Fkin day long and CRITISIZE,and FEEL GOOD. Face it! there isnt a PLAN the man could come up with that would satisfy you, or any of your kind.

You sit here and argue the finer points of the situation. Got an answer HE!! NO! You should dig a DEEP HOLE, cuz when the SHITE hits the fan and your little tail is betwixed your legs and your SCREAMS for HELP are unanswered it will be way to late. How many need to DIE here or anywhere else to make you realize the fact that there is an enemy? and its not the right wingers. Some of you have taken your eye off of the true ENEMY and focused it within. Keep BASHIN, and put the focus on us, just dont forget to turn around and LOOK to watch where you have walked!

GOOD LUCK, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You will need it!

Pure and simple.

...a whiskey swilling hell's angel

Clearly I wasn't the only one thinking it...

As for the debate, you may have noticed that I was participating in it prior to Mark's wild rant, by replying to Gary's post. Quite reasonably I thought...

And in today's news...

Bush considers US force expansion

US President George W Bush is considering a short-term increase in the size of the US force in Iraq, the White House has confirmed.

In a newspaper interview, Mr Bush also said he planned to expand the size of the military to deal with the broader, long-term fight against terrorism.

The new Defence Secretary Robert Gates has been asked to assess the idea.

On Monday, the Pentagon said violence in Iraq was at its highest since the country regained sovereignty in 2004.

'The broader struggle'

A temporary deployment of extra troops in Iraq was "something that's being explored" as Mr Bush considers his strategy on Iraq, White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

I talked about this to Secretary Gates and he is going to... come back with a recommendation to me about how to proceed forward on this idea

US President Bush

Mr Bush said his decision to increase the size of the armed forces was not just in response to Iraq, but to the broader struggle against Islamic extremists worldwide.

"I'm inclined to believe that we do need to increase our troops - the Army, the Marines," Mr Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post.

The president gave no estimates on how many troops might be added but said he agreed with Pentagon and Capitol Hill officials that the current military is being stretched too thin.

The US currently has about 140,000 troops in Iraq.

"I talked about this to Secretary Gates and he is going to... come back with a recommendation to me about how to proceed forward on this idea," Mr Bush said.

The president said he has not yet made a decision about a new strategy for Iraq, which he is expected to announce next month.

'Unvarnished views'

Robert Gates is sworn in as defence secretary

Mr Gates has said the US is not winning the war in Iraq

Attacks on US and Iraqi troops and civilians reached their highest level since Iraqi sovereignty was restored in June 2004, a Pentagon report said on Monday.

It said the number of attacks had risen to almost 1,000 a week, with the worst violence in Baghdad and the western province of Anbar, long the focus of activity by Sunni insurgents.

The report came just hours after the new US defence secretary said failure in Iraq would be a "calamity" that would haunt the US for many years.

Mr Gates spoke after taking his oath of office as the new US defence secretary, replacing Donald Rumsfeld.

He said Iraq was his top priority, adding that he would soon visit the country to hear the "unvarnished" views of US commanders on how to improve matters.

Mr Gates also vowed not to let Afghanistan become "a sanctuary for extremists" again.

That's what I was thinking. Jesus Christ.

me, too. koo-koo

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

There are two arguments happening simutaneously. One is how to win the war militarily and the other is how to resolve the war politically. I don;t think you can have both. Politics will trump military victory
