hi everyone please help me with the process for k2 visa. i received my letter from the embassy eligible for interview. my son (k2) who is 15 yr old is listed in the 129-F. God willing everything goes well and be issued a visa, I plan to have my son a "to-join" status since i want him to finish this school year here before he follows me. QUESTION: for to join k2 can I we process our visa together or at the same and just wait for him to follow? since it is stated that for to join they can apply a visa within a year upon my issuance of k1 visa.

would appreciate your reply. thanks!

No. What you will do is process your visa application now and do nothing with your son until later when he is ready. Only thing you need to watch is the timeline as he has to be issued his visa within a year of when your visa was issued, so his application has to be started with adequate time to complete everything within that year.

thanks for the reply! i was hoping i can process both our visas even if he will be a "to-join" since he would be left behind with my mom who is already a senior citizen and might not be able to accompany him in his errands to process his own visa. i wish there is a possibility of us processing at the same time. one more question: does he need consent to travel from other parent in the interview? or is this just needed at the immigration as he is traveling as a minor?

thanks again!

He will have his interview (and medical) when he is ready to travel. Not now.
