First, thanks to everyone who has provided information here. It has been immensely helpful in our K-1 process. So far things have gone pretty smooth for us, we are just about to schedule our interview at the consulate. smile.png

That leads me to my question. At the time we filed our petition, we had the impression that all Mexico K-1 processing was done at the consulate in Ciudad Juarez, so that is the site we put on our form. Recently, checking some of the statistical data on this site, I saw data on K-1 processing times at the Mexico City consulate. It would actually be much easier for her to have the interview in Mexico City. Since our case is already in Juarez, we are afraid to change it now. But just for reference, and for the benefit of future applicants, does anyone know if that is truly an option? Did it change recently? (Basically I want to know if I'm a moron and I missed that detail...) Also, if anyone wants to share their experience with moving a case from one consulate to another, I'd be interested in hearing how it went.

Thanks!

Dave

no worries.... ALL immigrant visa cases and the K1 (which is a non-immigrant visa with the intent of being an immigrant) are processed at Ciudad Juarez... you will have no option other than to go there.... that´s what I am aware of unless it has changed.... good luck and keep us posted...

Juarez only.

I would prefer to have my IV interview conducted at the Embassy in Mexico City even though I do not fall into the F4 or adoption categories. Can I have my appointment moved from Ciudad Juarez to Mexico City?

No. The Department of State has authorized the Embassy in Mexico City to process visas only in the F4 and adoption categories. The Embassy will be unable to process visas that fall outside of these two categories. Interviews in all other immigrant visa categories will continue to take place at the Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez.

Thanks for the replies! In the beginning I was certain that all the K-1's went through Ciudad Juarez, but what confused me recently is that on the stats page there is a line for Mexico City K-1. Actually, there is one for Tijuana too. Both are very small numbers. I'm assuming that's a result of people entering incorrect data in their profile.
