I'm kinda confused ! I called DOS and the agent told my fiancee to wait for the packet to arrive in Pinas and only then can we start the next steps. I have been reading postings on VJ and they were contradicting to what DOS told me.

I got the impression from these postings that as soon as I received the MNL case number that we can start the process even without the physical file getting to US Embassy in Manila. She also told me that it's the Embassy who would schedule the interview and not ourselves.

I was hoping we can get a jump start on this but now I am not sure.

Please comment on your experiences for my reference. Thanks in advance.

there's a lot you can do once NVC gives you the MNL number. If you have an email from NVC with the number, I think you can go ahead with the medical. You can get CFO out of the way, (you just have to go back with visa to get the sticker.) You can make your appointment onine for the interview, (just give it some time for the packet to arrive at the embassy.) Things move quickly now!! Get all of your paperwork in order!! You'll be here soon!!!

Well.... lot's of bad info there. wink.png

Also with the K-1 YOU schedule the interview!

As mentioned schedule your interview far enough ahead to allow time for the file to ship from NVC to USEM, I suggest about 4 weeks out from the day NVC gave you your MNL #.

As I say - it's ROCK 'N' ROLL time!!

Follow the flashing arrow below...

That's what I thought too.... Guess we know more than those people who answers the phone. LOL.

We have all the required documents compiled except for the CFO which my fiancee will do after she gets the visa. I think she will try to go to St Luke's and get her medical done without the letter.

By the way, I'm having her pay the Visa fee tomorrow (Manila time), do I need that paid first to schedule the interview?

Thanks Hank =).

PS. How long did it take for your files to get to the Embassy? Can the interview date be rescheduled if by any chance we don't get the file yet

Yes the visa fee has to be paid before scheduling... follow the flashing arrow... click the link ... lots of info there.

It can take 2 - 4 weeks from when you get the MNL # for the file to reach USEM. You can reschedule twice without having to pay a new visa fee.

Easy way to see if the embassy has the file is to call them.

Their contact info is in my link

Does anybody know the average transit days it takes for the files to get to the Embassy? I scheduled my fiancee's interview for the 25th of November giving us at least 3 weeks of buffer, Just in case.

Is she suppose to expect something from the DOS to bring to the interview? I'm reading something to do with Packet 3. I already have provided her with all required forms and requirements.

Your input is always appreciated. Thanks again !

From your other post the file is already in transit so you should be very fine with the 25th of November date.

There is nothing coming from DOS. Everything that is required by the embassy is listed in their instructions letter. There is no packet 3.

Just follow the instructions letter and all will be fine.
