Hello, Vj family. i greet everyone in the house. i wanna thank everyone for all your support and advise that i received here. I'm almost tru with our package but please i have one question. In i 130 form. there is a column that asked about your other names. i added my pet name which is the short form of my first name and other name that my family normally call me and my wife call me too by that name and my fb have that name also all our convo that name was mentioned cos my wife loves calling me by that name. but the name is not in any of my id or documents. And in my previous b2 visa apps i didn't include it. where they asked abt it cos i thought it was not necessary. Will it be a problem for us to result to a denial.

That is not what you put. All legal names you are nknown by not pet names.

For women their maiden name aand previous married names are entered.. My husbands family changed their surname so his previous legal name was entered. Leave all the rest off.

Nick names, pet names no.

Also you have K1 on your profile but you speak of a I-130 petition?

Hello ebu&nas,

your documented names should be your names and not pet name(s), if all you have is just a first and last name on your passport and other documents you should have entered it that way as its not a must to have a middle name. Your pet name is suppose to be off your official record if you dont have it on your passport, certificates, bank accouts, drivers lincense and other official stuffs.

I pray you dont have any problem with that anyway, if it will be a problem am sure your interviewer will ask for explanation else you should be fine.

Goodluck to you.

Just reiterating what the other posts said -

other names are for names you have used in official capacities.

I have had 3 names in my life - my maiden name, my name from my 1st marriage, and my name from my 2nd marriage. My husband was born with one name, then changed his last name when he was a child and his mother got remarried. My ex-husband uses an alternate first name in his work setting and in some other "official" capacities (though it is not a legal name for him) but he would include those names.

Names friends and family call you aren't what they are asking for.
