Birth Certificate

Greetings;

Has anyone run across the issue where by your wife did not have a birth certificate? According to my wife, back in early 1970's the chinese government really did not have "birth certificates" as we have here in the US. She does not have one and her birth was basically just documented in her "hoku" (spelling) So, how can we get or where does get any type of "birth certificate"?

I understand a "white book" but to get a white book you need an original document to get translated into the infamous "white book" but there is no originating birth certificate document.

The household registration documentation can be used to create a birth certificate white book (officially known as a Notarial Birth Certificate).

Then the birth certificate is presented for white book generation.

FWIW, you submitted a scanned birth certificate, notarial translation version, into NVC during EP. That's a version of the birth certificate acceptable for usage in USA.

Did she, by any chance, order extra ones when she was in China? If no, then that scanned version is all she has, at the moment.

The original was taken at the IV Unit in Guangzhou, so if she really needs another one, an original,

anyone back in China that has HER listed in THEIR Hukou book can get another one made, in China, then ship it to her.
