My interview went fairly quick and easy today. I applied for CR1 (direct consulate filing) and the whole interview only took 5 min. The visa officer asked me four questions and said " you are approved, but unfortunately your husband filled out the old I-864 form, so we are gonna need him to fill out the new one and send it to us."

He then gave me a white piece of paper saying " final processing letter", and asked me to mail in a new I864 form along with my passport and that final processing letter. He assured me several times that " don't worry your visa was approved".

My husband and I mailed out the requested new form this afternoon. So my question is - has anyone had such " final processing letter" before? Is this something you get when you get approved? How long is it going to take the consulate to process my visa after they receive my new I864?

What do most people get when their case get approved on the spot? Thanks everyone

my wife had that, but instead of mailing stuff in,

she used the CITIC Bank Courier stuff,

for her, it wasn't a final processing letter, but instead, was an approval notice with 221G instructions.

As to 'how long' - well, that depends on the queue, and there are several queues.

for now, monitor what's what at ceac.state.gov using the GUZ casefile #. When it shifts to 'ISSUED' then it's 1/3 of the way there,

as :

1. visa packet still to be generated and

2. visa packet to leave the mailroom and then

3. CITIC BANK Courier has to get it out to your spouse's city.

1-3 is 1 to 3 weeks past 'issued' date on the CEAC website, usually, if no internal glitches at GUZ IV.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Be sure to follow the instructions you're given - they HAVE switched back to mail submission of documents, instead of the CITIC courier. These instructions can change from month-to-month.

The fact that he asked for your passport indicates that they're wanting to put a visa in it and won't keep it long (at least in their time frame).
