Advice on Visa Change from G5 to immigrant

Hello everyone! A friend of mine recommended that I join VJ because she told me that you have been very helpful in giving her tips and avice when she processed her K1 visa. I have a different situation though.

I have a US citizen boyfriend for 4 years now. He has visited me in PI 3 times in 3 years. I was approved for a B2 tourist visa last year and came here in the US to visit. Luckily, a friend of mine recommended me to work as a nanny and was able to change my visa from B2 to G5.

Just recently, my boyfriend proposed to me and we're engaged now. We are planning to tie the knot this December. We have questions regarding the visa change:

1. Can we change G5 visa to immigrant visa without leaving the US and going back to my home country?

2. What are the steps and the forms that we need to submit? (I read the government websites and it was stated there that once we're married, my husband has to file for i-130. I have also read somewhere that I need to file an adjusment of status AOS)

3. I understand that I will not be able to work until the request is approved, how long does it usually take?
