Received letter from local embassy to say they got the approved petition. Now what?

Hi everyone,

I got a letter from the London embassy to say my they got my approved petition (filled I-129F).

So I have my case number now. I sent off for my police report a week ago so I should be getting that in the mail sometime this week. From then I understand I can go ahead and book the medical.

A few things I am unsure about, will I get a packet containing forms to fill out or do I have to download them and send them in? If so, does this packet contain a list of vaccinations required or paperwork required for the medical? I plan on attending my local DRs before the medical for my vaccinations as it's free on the NHS.

What does my partner have to send to me? I know the affidavit of support, but what else?

Also, I know the embassy interview isn't until after the medical etc...but can anyone advise me on the cost of this? I know the medical costs but I heard it costs to book the embassy interview too?

Thanks!!

Here is a link to the US embassy site and the medical bit in particular, if you look around in there you will find out about the forms. All they do is send a single sheet with a load of links to forms, so download print and send off.

Medical is £235 plus and jabs if you have them done there, jabs are different depending on age but if you look at what i sent you will find a table showing this.

Fiancee needs to send affadavit of support plus other docs such as last years transcripts, pay slips and perhaps a letter from his employer.

Get a letter from him saying he will marry you with 90 days of your arrival in the US with a valid K1 visa.

medicals were taking two weeks to book so if you are happy you will have your police cert and you have your case number there is nothing to stop you booking it now.

Interview fee or MRV as it is knows is £150, once you pay for it make sure you keep the e mail receipt as it will be asked for at interview.

Thank you for your help!

What do you mean by last years transcripts? Is that the tax returns from last year? How many pay slips? (do they need to be last years or this years?) Is a letter from the employer crucial? I read something about a bank statement too and a letter from the bank?

A tax transcript is something you can order from the IRS and is a breakdown of income and taxes. tax return is what you submit.

All I took was affadavit of support and the most recent tax transcript., I volunteered a print out of my US dollar account which basically showed I was self supporting anyway.

people take all sorts of stuff, whether it is needed or not I do not know. Just read all the stuff on the website regarding it and anything else they send you.

i dont know which is best, transcript or return, I am a UK citizen not USC so it's a bit of mumbo jumbo to me.

I am a USC and sent my Fiancée the following documents as evidence of support for the affidavit:

- 2012 tax return

- W2 Form

- letter from my bank. Call the bank and ask for a letter stating the amount you have in your checking and savings account. Most banks can write a letter for a small fee for this purpose.

- Most recent pay from work

- letter or official document that shows your salary from your place of work. Your Human Resources department should be able to provide.

Just try the best you can to supply evidence that you will be able to support your fiancée since she won't have a job for at least a few months after arriving in the US.

Just a note -- read the I-134 instructions and it'll tell you the financial stuff requirements. In my shoes (self-employed), I sent last years tax transcript (NOT return), letters from my banks w/ date acct opened, amt deposited for the last year, and current balance. If you google I-134 instructions it'll take you to it so you can see how they want the bank letter done.
