I have decided to keep my maiden name as well. You should provide your legal name on the application and for evidence you can provide the insurance along with little description of why he put his surname. If they want extra information, they will let you know and contact you.

thank you.

Please, everyone, take a look at my post:

The letter that is referenced in that post is here:

Let's keep up the pressure, so that you don't have to wait as long as your predecessors have been waiting.

NOA1: July 15, 2013
Does this apply to everyone that is doing the I130? And, what about those that do not live in the USA currently? I petitioned my husband to move to the US and we both live in the UK so obviously the application was send to the Embassy in London.

I am an American originally from Mississippi. Met my British husband in 1996. Married in 2004. Have lived in the UK for 9 years. We have two children. Hoping to move back to the USA with my husband, twins, two cats and dog in tow. 22 Oct 2013: Mailed I-130 application to DCE- London Embassy25 Oct 2013: Noticed application fee processed on my credit card.25 Oct 2013: NOA1 received (found in spam folder)19 Nov 2013: NOA2 received22 Nov 2013: Visa Interview Checklist arrived via post.25 Nov 2013:Completed DS-260 electronic application25 Nov 2013: Visa Interview Checklist Complete9 Dec 2013:Medical Examination13 Dec 2013: Submission of the notification of applicant readiness form 8 January 2014: Interview date assigned at Embassy in London 23 January 2014: Interview APPROVED! :-)<p>1 June 2014: Port of entry:NC

After they email, then you should also receive a hard copy and notice that they have cashed in your check. Then the waiting game begins. We have a long wait ahead of us. (possibly 11 months)

Thanks for your response lovex3! 11 months. ugh. That is a long wait. How soon after the application has been received are the interviews usually booked?

Is there anything ie., paperwork or docs that I can be collecting in the meantime?

I did read on another site that filing the I130 in foreign country if you are a US citizen speeds up the process... Wish someone that lives in the UK that has petitioned their spouse to move to the USA could confirm this..

It states :

Residency Requirements

Filing the I-130 abroad may shorten the total immigration timeline. However, this option is only available to US citizens living abroad. The DHS office on London has set the requirement at six months minimum residence in the UK -- both legal leave to remain permanently and actual residence.

Dear MLD,

This problem probably applies to you, because your wait may be extended for the same reasons. However, you are currently together with your family, which is great. Hopefully, you can remain together there, until the green card for your husband and children comes through - but don't expect an immediate turnaround. If my memory is correct, your I-130 will be routed to the Chicago Lockbox, then probably to NBC. Look at your I-797, and it will say whether it's at the NBC at Overland Park, Kansas.

Could be.... But I would check to see how 'current' that information is. The median processing time for standalone I-130s was taking 90 days as recently as January, but then everything changed.

Hey MandyyLouDarling, although this thread is only about I-130, I will just give you some links that I found.

Basically, the link below tells you all the steps that are involved with NVC

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5161.html

Also, someone kindly created a processing time sheet for NVC, and it seems to be up to date, so you can check that out as well.

Thanks so mcuh ALaskafan.

Sorry for my ignorance. What is NBC? I just assumed that it would all be sorted here in London. I had no idea it would be routed to America. hmmpf. ALso, what is an I-797? Again, apologies for my ignorance as I just started researching yesterday!

NBC is National Benefits Center. Once you get your NOA1 it should be from the NBC center. Once your I-130 is approved, that is when it moves on to NVC center. Hopefully that makes more sense.

MLD,

No problem... The National Benefit Center processes I-130s. It used to be only at Lee's Summit, MO, but they created a new site in Overland Park, KS, and they decided that all standalone I-130s would be processed there, and not at Lee's Summit, and not at the usual regional service centers.

I don't know whether your I-130 will be processed in London or not - my guess is no.

The transition to the NBC at Overland Park has been terrible, as has been this influx of Provisional Waivers. For more info about what is happening see:

http://uscgreencardpetitionerscommittee.blogspot.com/

The I-797 is the usual hardcopy letter that we get back when we have filed an application or petition. It tells us where our I-130 petition is and some other information.

Correct.

Alaskafan- UK still offers DCF. At least 6 month residency is the only requirement. Processing times are indeed shorter. A month even.

NBC meaning National Benefit Center. It is a filling or service center. The link below could help you understand better.
