Consulate Review: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 24, 2015
Embassy Review : It was a really big day for me.
I live in Saudi Arabia, Eastern Provinces, city: Al-Khobar.
My interview was 22 January 2015, 12:30PM at US embassy in Riyadh which is 400km far away from my living city. I rented a car with driver, and we started our journey 5:30 in the morning. It took us 4 hours to reach the destination in Riyadh Embassy.
We park our car in the embassy parking.
It was new place for both of us, therefore we decided to visit embassy area to pass our lazy time.
We sat in front of US embassy to see their activities. There were lot of saudi student on the line for waiting to enter the embassy and few other nationals citizen on immigrant line.
At 11:30 i saw there was no one on que, i thought they will give access to enter the embassy 1 hour before. But the security guard refused me to enter or wait in line, just simply told me to come on exact time.
Then i waited one more hour, and finally my driver told me its 12:30!
I came on line and showed them my interview letter. They open the door and checked all the items whatever i carried with me. (Be aware its not allowed to carry any electronic thing in embassy)
Then there was body scanning machine same as airport security.
I passed that gate and move into main embassy waiting room. Other security guard gave me a token #802 and told me to sit down into waiting room. After two minutes my number was called in counter #2 one asian guy asked for my passport and interview letter. And he told me to go back to the seat!
And i wait around 30 minute after that they called my name in counter #6
I went there, there was another asian guy asked me to start conversations in english or other language. I chose english. 1st he asked for my medical report and 2 copies of the passport size photograph. I handover to him and he took my biometric finger scan.
He started question me.
Who is my petitioner?
How did we connected?
When did we got married?
He asked for my all photos!
I gave it to him, and he look all of them. There were about 140 photo without any tag/label.
How many kids do i have?
How often we talk?
Who is my joint sponsor?
Am i related to him or not?
Did he married or not?
How many kids does he have?
Meanwhile he open our file and look into IV & AOS documents.
Due to expedite reason those were not reviewed at NVC
Finally he asked what was the reason to expedite our case?
Then he told me to go back to seat and wait.
Again I've waited 40 min and called my name at window 13
There was an american white guy, he told me to take oath. I did it with him.
Then asked me to put my finger on scanner.
And started the questioning process!
Most of questions were same as other Asian guy.
Meanwhile he look our photos too.
But he added some of my job related question.
When did I came here in Saudi Arabia?
Did i visit any other country except Saudi and Bangladesh?
What is my work here?
How much i got paid in a month?
And he asked about my joint sponsor income, and he seems to be confused about joint sponsor income. Then i clarified him that there were some mistakes in the total income in AOS part 6, section # 13a & 13b
I showed him corrected new AOS form. Then he was happy that I made it clear for him.
Then the American guy and Asian guy discussed with each other about our AOS
Then American guy gave me a Domestic Violence paper to read. And told me everything is perfect & I'm APPROVED!
Rest of instructions were given by thr Asian guy in counter no. #6
And Asian guy thanked me and told me i'm Approved!
I came out of the embassy and found that office and went back to embassy and returned him. Then he said you can go, we will sent you passport with visa. I asked him, how long it might take? He said within 10 days they will send it to me. I thanked him and came out.
Allover they were so friendly, Questioned like they discuss with me. The American guy make some jokes with me too.
So, be confident and tell the truth; you will be oky.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
