Voters in Jackson MS have overwhelmingly chosen a new mayor, by a vote of 86%. Chokwe Lumumba now leads the city of about 175,000 which might be a step down since he's a leader of the Republic of New Afrika. Haven't heard of the Republic of New Afrika? Well, it's not officially established but Lumumba and other blacks want to form a new country out of 5 southern states and create a 'black nation' where blacks have autonomy and the right of self determination.He is also an avowed communist, although he probably wont' use that word. His view of the economy is that it should be government controlled with worker owned cooperatives running businesses, cooperative run land trusts lending money and so on.

“Some of (the counties) are as much as 80 percent black. So, demographically we have a solid, a non-self-governing territory. What we need to do in that area – and actually what our people have begun to do, Mississippi has more black elected officials than any state in the United States – and if we can now give that some political content, some direction in terms of what we want to do in terms of taking these electoral victories, these economic victories and teach the message that we know from long ago, of self-determination, of self-governance, self-economic development,” said Lumumba. Really, you have more black elected officials, you have more blacks chosing their elected officials but somehow you don't have the right of self-determination? Dude, these are the people that elected you. Did someone keep them from voting and it was the 20% that are not black that voted you in? How do the citizens of Mississippi not have the right of self determination?

Lumumba does not see himself as a racist despite his calls for an all black nation. He says a racist is someone who uses a person's race to hold them down, deprive them of rights and so on. So you can discriminate against someone by lifting others up because of their race and not enslave the other races... but preventing someone from living in their family home, in this nation New Afrika is not depriving them of a right, I guess. Lumumba says he has never lynched anyone but that happens to blacks in MS all the time; that people in MS are deprived of jobs because of their race, blacks primarily; people are deprived of home ownership because of their race, again primarily blacks; and that's racist. So he wants to deprive other races of their rights to live and work in MS or other southern states and that's not racist, somehow.

It's scary that a person like this could be elected at all in this country much less by a 86% plurality. Think of how the MSM and the left wing would scream bloody murder if a Klansman had been elected after calling for an all white country be established in any part of the United States. This would be national news and there'd be calls for marches and a national dialogue; well, you know the drill. But some types of racism are acceptable.

Voting for this guy is functionally and morally no different than voting for a leader of the Ku Klux Klan. He’s just as vile, just as racist, just as bad — but he’s black instead of white.

Voters in Jackson, Miss., a mid-sized city in the heart of the Deep South, have picked a Democrat as their mayor. What’s different about this individual is that he is a former leader of the Republic of New Afrika, a group dedicated to creating an independent black nation out of five southern states.

Now leading the city of about 175,000 is Chokwe Lumumba – who has a long history of radical activism and whose plans for the largest city in Mississippi could be called “revolutionary.”

A co-founder of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, which promotes black “self-determination,” Lumumba was sworn in on July 1, after winning 86 percent of the vote in the general election.

…One of Lumumba’s primary goals as mayor of Jackson is to create a “solidarity economy” in the city. According to a report published by the Belfast Telegraph, a solidarity economy is an “umbrella term used to describe a wide variety of alternative economic activities, including worker-owned co-operatives, co-operative banks, peer lending, community land trusts, participatory budgeting and fair trade.”

Lumumba also has earned the highest praise from the Final Call, the official publication of the Nation of Islam, which called his electoral victory one of the “most important progressive political victories on a long list of important political leaders.”
