Greetings.

So something that bothers me a little is that my fiancee does not have her last name in her passport. Only first name. However she always used her mothers last name. Her mothers name is in her passport in the field where her parents are listed. That last name is also on such documents as her college transcripts and some other official paperwork. It was never a problem, but i am a little worried about it when the time comes for the interview and all.

I did some looking around the forums and most people say that its not usually an issue as long as the same name used in all forms. We used her name and last name on all I-129F related paperwork.

I dont really see it as a big deal, but you never know.

Anyone have any experience or information?

Thank you

Hi there,

How Indian people custom put their last name or family name? In my country, there is no such "mandatory" to have family name in names. I only have single name and since immigration required family name on passport, and then my father name -that also single name- became my family name. If she does have 3 names, i.e Sri Pandita Dewi on her passport then Dewi is her last name.

According to some VJers here - there was a similiar thread like yours before- now her immigration documents will follow her name on passport. It is no big deal and good luck
