A friend from Iran is applying for a B2 visa to visit me and some family in the US.

1) What's the purpose of the contact person?

2) Will it make any difference who he puts as his contact person in the US?

If it will, here are our thoughts on his options:

Me

His plan is to stay with me for the majority of the time

I'm the one, out of his three options, who's actually invested in him coming here

American citizen (birthright citizenship)

Uncle

Paying for the trip

Only became a citizen recently, married to an American citizen

Extremely busy; if anyone tries to get in contact with him, I'm not entirely sure how soon he'll be able to get back to them

Grandparents

Grandmother was his legal guardian (he's now 20, so that doesn't matter much)

In the process of becoming naturalized citizens

Thoughts on who would be best?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
