Immigration Officer (Detroit) said we're 2 days late..

Just found the answer of why and how come? Only I knew was the 6 months thing. Been here since Sept. 3. Now it's clear that, we have 4 months, to enter US from the date of NOA2. I got this copy of our I29F application together with the embassy instruction letter, before I had my interview, I should have double checked this. Clearly I saw this same form that the immigration officer was referring to that she got from my sealed packet. Got through my docs last night and found this:

Not sure what you are referring to, but the approval of the petition, the I-129F, has no bearing on the K-1 visa. The date you must enter the US by is the expiration date on the K-1 visa in the beneficiary's passport. The beneficiary is using the visa to enter the US. The NOA2 for the I-129F does have an expiration date, but that is for the interview at the Embassy/Consulate. IF the visa was truly expired the beneficiary would have been refused entry to the US and you would have to start the whole process all over again.

Sounds to me like you used the K-1 to enter the US on Sept 3rd. You now have 90 days from that date to get married. You also have up to two weeks before the I-94 (on-line electronic form now that you will need to get a copy of) to apply for your social security card (SSC).

Thank you Dave. Well the expiration date of my visa is Dec.17. I would think yes 6 months from the medical date,correct. The immigration officer was pointing on that I 129f application form of ours , i saw the noted dates may 2- sept 1. The officer asked me and she said " where were you? you should be here til sept 1, you' re 2 days late", and she called for a supervisor for approval to go trough, that was scary.

Okay, I see. You got someone who has not seen a K-1 visa and was thinking the NOA1 was the visa when it is just the petition approval. The visa was valid unitl Dec 17 which is the date you had to enter the US by. Now that you have used the K-1 visa it is not valid and once you get married the expiration date on the I-94 does not matter too much either. Just do not leave the US without the advance parole (AP) or green card (GC). Good thing the supervisor knows whats what and you had no problems with your entry into the US.
