Ive just got the ssn in thr mail today and its my birthday. So what would be the next step after this? Greencard might come soom too. (Hopefully)

Im on IR1 visa btw.

And oh i saw something wrong with my ss name.

Its my middle name...they're missing one letter. Oh-o. For example my middle name is Villanueva and they only print Villanuev. So what to do with this?

done paying the immigration fee before i fly here in the US. I arrived last week thursday.

More than likely it's a space/character issue, there are limitations on name length. You could call SSA and ask about that.

I guess NY process SSN faster than the rest of the state..another person from NY said he got his SSN a week after arriving...My husband still hasn't got his and its been 2 weeks and where here in Illinois. Hoping his SSN comes soonrolleyes.gif

It's not a 'state' thing, at all.

It's a POE thing. Behind the closed off section, that you'll never see unless you actually work there,

is a crew of data entry clerks, going over the visa packets dropped off..

Now, a good crew at a POE will actually notice Part II of the DS-230 form, and make an entry into their system, which automagically gets the SSN generated and out the door..

A bad crew, skips that part.
