Realistically, you can't correct the root cause. That's why the tool is the target.

Well that may indeed be true

However if we spent as much time and effort on cause as we did the tool,we might make some progress

Agree, but you can't stop the media so what to do.. I have no clue

Making it a gun debate is going to trigger a months long goat rope that will get us no where and accomplish nothing.

we have got to figure out the root cause of this.

The media won't stop because sadly, people eat that stuff up. They love the sensationalism of it all. They have no reason TO stop.

Dear God, please let one of them be white.

If they are all black or minorities, stand by. The usual suspects will be here saying this is why we should be treated this way.

But nothing has changed in regards to the tool. So, I doubt our progress would be any better towards a much more complicated issue.

Everyone has a different motive when they do something like this. Sometimes it's because they're thugs, sometimes it's because they're sick, sometimes it's because they have rage issues, etc etc etc. The reasons go on and on and on.

Guns end up being the common factor in these stories, generally, so they get the focus. Whether it's fair or not.

The vast majority don't think "hm, I have a gun, let's go see how many people I can kill."

It's generally "I'm mad/sick/depressed/wanting attention and I want to do a lot of damage. What can I use that'll kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time?"

That's where the gun comes in. They're easy to get, easy to use.

BTW, this is by far the most civil discussion on guns we've had in a long time.

Yeah 4 or 5 posts of "We need to do something about this" equates to a civil discussion. laughing.gif

It all started with conciliator and his request for emotionally neutral language.

He's right though. No well look at the shooters comment as of yet. So it's a civil discussion.
