Sharkano, you are a life saver, I realised I did do that form however I filled it in with the barcode from the DS260, the consular from the embassy asked me after I have filled in the DS160 for the barcode? Was that to register it in the system do you know?

I have only just now completed it with the DS160 correct barcode. Oh gosh does that mean the 6 weeks now restarts again from today? I seem to just be making things worst! And making it take longer.

Urgh.

I sent a nice email over to the consular yesterday asking if I could have an interview in December sometime or before and was that even possible to get one that fast? As my fiancé is currently in England with me. But no response as of yet. I've sent overloads of emails, do I don't know whether to send another to them stating that I've now filled in the form of readiness again or just to await there response?

..... Hmmmmm

Oh my gosh I feel like I'm going insane.

Can anybody tell me or give me any advice?i feel like I've done all the wrong things.

Ok so we filed for our fiancé visa at the end of january and received the receipt in February.

We were approved in August on the 30th, I received the instructions letter on September 24th, booked my medical on october 7th, results were sent to the embassy october 24th.

We phoned the DOS in September and they told me to fill in the DS260 so I done this.

Paid the visa fee and courier service on october 15th.

I've been emailing the embassy with no response then received the response saying I had filled in the wrong forms and I had to fill in the DS160 instead.

I've posted nothing to the embassy in the post as it says you take the forms to the interview.

My main concern now is that does my time for my interview start all over again now?

So I filled in the DS form 160 on November 8th. So does my interview wait time start from that point now??

I'm so confused, and my fiancé leaves soon as he's currently in England with me, he wanted to come to interview.

Does anyone know what else I can do? I have emailed the embassy asking for a fast interview date because of the wedding plans and I'm trying to be there before Christmas.

Please help.

I can help explain what happened to you. You got caught in the abrupt changes at the embassy. Here's a timetlne of what was done to get an interview in London.

Before Sept 1:

Fill in and mail paper forms DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157

Have a medical and gather your documents

Fill in and mail paper form DS-2001 Readiness for Interview

Between Sept 1 and Oct 7:

Complete online submission of DS-260

Have a medical and gather your documents

Fill in and mail paper form DS-2001 Readiness for Interview

Since Oct 7:

Complete online submission of DS-160

Have a medical and gather your documents

Complete online submission of the Readiness for Interview form. (not called DS-2001 any more)

So when you called DOS in Sept, they were correct to tell you DS-260.

But if you didn't mail the paper DS-2001, the embassy wouldn't know you were ready to interview. Could that be your delay?

So fast forward to your recent email response from the embassy. The process changed a month ago so they told you the current form. Your other form would have been processed. They process everything during transition between forms. And some were waiting 6-7 weeks for an interview at the time. So either you didn't send the readiness form or you didn't wait quite long enough. But now you have changed busses, so hope it's a speedy one.

You were just unlucky to get caught in the big switcheroo at London.

Yeah, London has been schizophrenic with the forms. Make sure you call the CEAC number (202-485-7600, then 1, 0) every few days to check your case's status and see if an interview was assigned. Many have missed their interview dates due to London snafus. Good luck!

can my child accompany me to the embassy for my interview as I have no one to look after him?

I believe so, but you have to let them know that they will be accompanying you beforehand. Are you also filing for a K2 visa for them?

Assuming your medical results got to the embassy on Nov 4, it hasn't been two weeks yet and one of those days was an embassy holiday. Some have waited 2, 3, or 5 weeks. It can slow down this time of year because the American interviewers may plan holidays to the states for several weeks. Some may go for Thanksgiving and others for Christmas.

No, do not pay until you have an interview date. They usually give you about 3 weeks notice unless you asked for anything that got cancelled saying you were available on very short notice.
