So I could not access the website to see if an earlier date was available...

I just now call the embassy in the Philippines to try and move it up by a week or so....

The guy tells me (NOW GET THIS....):::: He has to CANCEL our interview date BEFORE he can even LOOK into the calendar.....

I said WHAT?????

He says...you would have to take your chances....

Of course I will not do that

The New Yorker that I am....I say....can you possibly explain WHY there would be such a ridiculous rule??????

I asked the guy.....does this make ANY sense to YOU?????

Of course ...he had no answer...no reason why this idiotic rule is in place..he was polite of course

It's funny....if I worked at a place and there was an idiotic rule I had to tell people......I would AT LEAST be curious enough to ask my boss.....what the H#LL kind of rule is THAT????

Ohhhh our illustrious US government at work.......thanks for taking good care of us......

I am glad this process is almost over......the pathetically slow movement of our govt to accomplish a relatively easy task of a K1 visa for us law abiding squeaky clean citizens sickens me....

That is how it works! :)

No need to see the open interview dates if you already have a date scheduled. So, yup, you have to cancel your present interview ... then roll the dice and hope you can find a different date you like. Guy tried that some months back, cancelled the original interview date only to find there was nothing available that he wanted ... then his original date was grabbed up on top of it.

Roll the dice... take your chances.

Well what makes it bad is you have Filipinos working by American rules,,,a recipe for disaster,,,,rules are interpreted differently by different people

I think the filipinos working at the USEM in Manila follow the rules EXACTLY which is why we have the stupid excuses and scripted responses from the call center folks,,they simply will not think outside the box

Hi Bigamb! I am with you on that frustration, except that I want to get an earlier date. However, I understand that they could not give us the available dates, and that is because the dates are updated REAL TIME. Just imagine how many people want to set a schedule every minute around the globe... It's unfathomable, I"m telling you. Somehow, they have to make a guard, a sure fool-proof way in their calendar that people can't just change anytime they want. I'm sure it's not only you and me! smile.png So relax, and no need to blame it on American's system and Filipinos doing the job for them.

@DavenRoxy: One can only see the dates after keying-in or providing a receipt number, and not just through making another bogus account. no0pb.gif

I was able to see the available dates when I keyed in my receipt number and it accepted it,,then I simply chose the first appt avail.

now having said this,,after the aug 19 embassy closure the brainiacs that set the system up will not allow you to rescedule. The system thought I had interviewed on Aug 19th and would not longer let me

go any further so I had to call in,,,

and yes I blame american rules and filipino workers,,,they most likely have filipino supervisors too,,,a true receipe for chaos

You've made the wrong approach.

Sure, it was a great idea to use a telephone - but -

when you use a telephone, a PI national will assist you

and

a PI national not have access (in real time) to the scheduling system.

However................

If'n you EMAIL IN the request for an earlier date,

a Vice-Consul (a USCitizen) will read it, and act on it.

I highly suggest you email, nowish.

Go Get Em, and Good Luck !

(for this stage of the process, PI workers suck. a lot...... They have no power, and make up sh}t, often....)

Usually, looking at the calendar for ustraveldocs.com is for the foreign person, in your case the K-1 visa chaser.

Why in the world would you present credentials, electronically, spoofing yourself to be her?

That just smacks of waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much control, IMO.

Of course, I could be dead wrong. Does she have daily access to a computer, or no?

That's amazing.

No No, wait.. No..

That's incredible. Why?

You've no clue who runs and maintains ustraveldocs.com

and that's ok... You've no clue how to give input for changing it and the business rules.

That's really ok - for a USC human filing for the 4th time into Manila IV.

Clarity alludes you. I am happy for that.
