dpmante,

According to "Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman" recommendation, USCIS should conduct interview within 90 days on I-751 submission however this isn't always the case. As far as I know, USCIS must send RFE before sending notice of interview because they must close all the doubts via RFE if possible. So as long as if you don't receive RFE, do not worry about an interview. Also in many cases if they issue an RFE, providing all the requested information will avoid unnecessary interview process unless if applications are randomly picked up for quality control, they will always interview those couple.

NOTE: USCIS always transfer cases between service centers. In order to keep the transparency they send the NOA letter otherwise people would've never discover their applications have transferred to different service center for further processing. The only reasons the cases are transferred to different service center is to expedite the processing timeline so just relax and do what you do as in our normal day.

Wish ya'all the speedy approval.

Hi themerlins,

Congrats on your approval and sorry to hear you haven't received any info since the approval letter. That's quite odd!

I got my approval letter on October 7 (approval was processed on October 3rd), email and text notification came just a day after (Oct 8), then received the card 9 days later. So you should have definitely received your card already.

Have you thought about calling USCIS? Maybe they just forgot to proceed with the next steps...

I remember reading that it happened to a VJ user a while back.

With regards to themerlins situation!

There seems to be a lot of inconsistencies with USCIS

All i have received from USCIS so far has been texts/email notifications, i have yet to receive any letter on my case transfer and on my approval

I received a text/Email on 10/26 and today with regards to card production! which seems weird

So i am hoping this puts things in the right perspective for everyone in similar situation and hoping my card is on its way!!

The email/ text is linked to the online status change - the online status changes are taking time for few and a few are having issues with getting the actual cards within reasonable time like others. Curious to know how did you get to know that your case was approved.

There are June applicants transferred on 8/22/13 that got approvals and there are other that are still waiting. After seeing the progress on various thread, it looks like the actual transfers were done to the Local Service Centers but the NOA2 letter indicated CSC address. This is assumption based on some of the approval letters received with Local Service Center representative's signatures but in a envelopes with CSC addressed.

It is interesting is that 3 of the August applicants have already received approvals and older applicants (May and before) are still in the process of getting transferred out of VSC.

Not sure if the applications are actually getting transferred to the Local Service Centers but it looks like they are - once everyone start providing the details of the approval details, we can draw some conclusions.

Navyk and Koucki,

Our case was transferred from VSC to CSC on 8/22/13. On 10/7/13 we received an approval letter (dated 10/4/13). Since then...absolutely nothing. Case status still indicates "Initial Review" (which, apparently, isn't all that surprising). Most of the June folks who received approvals around the same time as us have already received their cards, if not an e-mail/text about card production.

My husband called them today, but the only thing the rep could tell us was that the case was in Initial Review. She said it's not uncommon for them not to update the case status when the approval is issued. It seems kind of pointless to me to have Customer Service reps who can't do anything more than read what is on a website. It's insulting.

We're going out of the country in a few weeks and were hoping to have the new green card in hand. I realize we can take the letter, but that makes me nervous and I've heard horror stories about folks getting tied up at border patrol.

Aries - Agreed. I have no idea what's going on over there, but it's annoying me greatly.

Themerlins, your case is unique. You have the approval letter but no GC yet or even any news of the GC production.

Yes, the USCIS representatives give us nothing really and it is a futile exercise. The existing GC with the extension letter still hold good till you get the 10 year GC in hand.

A lot depends on the airline you are travelling by more than the country you are going to. It is the airline folk that do not know the US Immigration rules that create issues. Please post a separate thread mentioning the country of your visit and the airlines that you can travel by and you will get specific country - airline related information from others from similar situation, which will provide better guidance to your travel plans.

Hi, everyone

I received RFE from USCIS last week and it states that

  • The tax returns submitted are incomplete. No schedules, statements, and attachments such as W-2 forms were submitted.
  • The utility bill(s) submitted do not reflect both the USC spouse and CPR names.

I was a college student when I was applying the application and I filed my tax return by using 1099 because I only work as a part-time. Can I file W-2 with 1099?

And I and my wife currently live with her family and all the utility bills, rent, cable bills are all under my mother-in-law's name, and what I submitted in was the utility bills with my mother-in-law's name and a statement from her stating that she is the one who pays the bills. Is that not enough? What other evidences do you think I can submit in for my RFE? F.Y.I, I and my wife just graduated from college and are both unemployed at this moment.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!

1. Get tax transcripts and send those - USCIS likes them.

2. Get a letter from your in-laws that you both stay with them and that they pay all the utility bills.

3. Always use a covering letter and explain the situation clearly, which clarifies most of their doubts/ questions.

Hi All,

Thank you all for the extremely useful information in this forum. I filed my I-751 at the end of August, and received notice that my application had been transferred to the California Service Center about two weeks ago. But my case is different from everyone else's in one respect: I still haven't had my biometrics notice.

So I have three questions, I suppose:

  • Is anyone else in the same situation?
  • Did you receive email updates or online notification about the biometrics appintment? (I.e. is there any chance that the original appointment letter was lost, or can I be sure that it just has not been scheduled yet?)
  • Is there anything I can or should do at this stage to make sure that my biometrics get done, and won't delay or negatively affect my application?

Worried,

District

So I have three questions, I suppose:

  • Is anyone else in the same situation?
  • Did you receive email updates or online notification about the biometrics appintment? (I.e. is there any chance that the original appointment letter was lost, or can I be sure that it just has not been scheduled yet?)
  • Is there anything I can or should do at this stage to make sure that my biometrics get done, and won't delay or negatively affect my application?

Worried,

District

District,

  • I hope anyone in your situation would answer.
  • You can do an online update of your email and telephone unless you have the reference number form the Biometric letter, so the answer is that you can't get emails and online updates.
  • Since you submitted late August, I suggest that you contact USCIS and try to get your biometrics scheduled.

Thanks, Navyk!

However, I can get online updates, since the transfer letter included my new reference number. But I suppose this means that, if my biometrics letter was sent (and somehow lost) before I got my transfer letter, this wouldn't show up online? The thing I'm most worried about is that I might somehow, inadvertently, have missed my biometrics appointment, and that this might negatively affect my application...
