Gayle,

Try expedia.com. I use them a lot. I'm guessing the airline are telling your hubby about VISA/Passport issues. Probably becuase he wants to buy a one way ticket to US. Normally a round trip ticket is required....unless of course you explain the the person flying from the Philippines is a First Time Immigrant to the US. Then they should be able to help.

I just brought my wife to US from Philippines. At first when I called the airlines they said a round trip ticket was required because a person from another country cannot stay on an open ticket. Once I explained that this was my wife and she was coing to the US for the first time they said, Oh, okay, congratulation...then they assisted me in booking her ticket.

I use Google's ITA Matrix software http://matrix.itasoftware.com/. I find the best deals there and you can search for one way tickets. Once you choose your flight you then get the Ticket Agents information and take it to any travel agent, even in NY or Philippines and buy your ticket. I found the best choices and the best prices then any other site. And I have tried them all it seems.

Good Luck

BTW not to long ago this same question was asked and there were some great suggestions from many. You might try a search here in the Philippines forum. Seemed like it was about 3-4 weeks ago.

Try Philippine airlines, Manila to Los Angeles or San Francisco (it is a 12 hours flight direct) and take delta airlines from LA/SF to New York...

Try EVA Air great airline goes from Manila-Taiwan-NYC. One way tickets are $769 on a weekday. If you buy online just make sure he calls EVA Air to let them he will be purchasing it for you and he is not one of the travelers so you won't have problems at the check-in.

I tried inquiring about one way tickets in the Philippines also and they said it wasn't allowed.. if thats the case they better refund the other half since my fiance isn't planning to come back, I find that kind of crazy to purchase a round trip ticket when the person is coming here for a certain reason and actually has valid papers.

You might try Arlina at: arlina@reliabletravel.com.ph

Not saying they are THE BEST, but she did get us a good rate, and applied the first-time immigrant discount.

I had no problem with Hawaiian Airlines once I told them my wife was a first time immigrant to the us, therfore ehte one way ticket for her. If you inform them of this and show the ticket agent at the counter the VISA it should be fine. I did not have to buy my waife a round trip ticket, just one way.

Good luck and God Bless,

jayann & jay that's a good deal 769 US dollars one way Manila-Taiwan-NYC...though I remembered when I had flown with EVA air in 2009, there was a layover of 6 to 8 hours in Taiwan....and the free check in luggage was 20 kilos.

I think there is some law on the books, but I think some online systems let you book anyways.

But if you go to Korean Air website and try to book any trip originating from the Philippines it won't let you. It says something like tickets originating from the Philippines need to be purchased in the Philippines per law. It's probably some law supported by the travel agencies their to force people to book with them haha.

I booked a one way ticket on Expedia for Delta. no problem.
