Hi everyone,

this is a cool place!

Sorry if my questions have been already answered or so, I am newbie here and I did some research but to be sure I want to ask the following.

I am currently filling out N-400 Application form and I have some questions.

Please give me an advice what to do and where to go with all this:

--------------------------------

1) What should I put for all fields that I have nothing to write in? Should I put N/A for all of them or can I just leave them blank?

--------------------------------

2) Part 9. Information About Your Children

I am married but as for now we have no kids. What should I put in that field "how many sons and daughters have you had?" - 0 or N/A?

What should I write for all fields about children below (full name / date of birth / etc) if I have no kids? N/A or leave them blank?

--------------------------------

3) Part 10

There are 2 questions:

Question 1: Since becoming a lawful permanent resident, have you ever failed to file a required Federal, State, or Local tax return? (YES / NO)

Question 2: Do you owe any Federal, State or local taxes that are overdue? (YES / NO)

To make long story short: in 2009 I made almost nothing - $7,950 in fact I was overseas and I had no job.

According to the IRS, I do not have pay any tax if I made less that $8,950 or something like this. So I sent nothing at all. Then, 1 year later, I received a letter from IRS states that "our records show that you have not filed any tax for 2009 year". I had to pay them about $173 as a some penalty. I went to my accounter and show him all amount I made ($7,950). We filed the form with the payment of $173 as well, I have proof.

So I am clean and I owe nothing to IRS because even later but I paid everything I had to. May be I had to send them some blank form saying that I made less than $8,950 so I don't have to pay tax, but I did not do that because I did not know that I have to do that.

So what should I answer to these 2 questions? Obviously, answer to Quesion 2 should be NO cause I owe nothing to IRS. What about answer to Question 1? Did I fail it or I did not in fact I paid later even when I didn't have to file my tax?

I don't want to lie (NO WAY) but the same time I don't want to answer YES in fact it may affect my application processing somehow.

4) Part 10, section D

There are these questions:

- Have you ever commited a crime or offense for which you were not arrested? (YES / NO)
- Have you ever been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason? (YES / NO)
- Have you ever been charged with committing any crime or offense? (YES / NO)
- Have you ever been convicted for a crime or offense? (YES / NO)
Well, in 2010 I was going back home at 4am riding the subway train. I was not drunk, I was sitting with closed eyes alone in the cab and with ONE leg at the seat. I was alone in the cab.
At the station, an officer saw me and he gave me a ticket for this.
It's a bit funny situation but still, I paid that ticket at the TRANSIT ADJUDICATION BUREAU and I have a receipt and everything related.
What should I answer? Do I have to say YES to any of these? Why?
--------------------------------
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your future help and have a nice day / night / whatever you have there smile.png
