What are my chances of getting a Visa as a Canadian PR?

I live in Canada and a permanent residence of canada and I am 23 years old. I am a bangladesh citizen. I used to live in US, my parents moved there when I was 8 years old on a B1 visa but overstayed and we moved to Canada when I was 15. I am now 23 and am applying for a visitors visa for the 2nd time this year. Will I be penalyzed because my parents broke the visitors visa law when I underage? Also the first time I applied, I was denied the visa because I didn't have enough ties to this country. At that time I had no job, and the only thing tying me to Canada was my son. Now I am working, I am engaged to the father of my child, they are both canadian citizens, I live with my family here. We own a house but the house is not under my name, it is under my fiance's name. Any tips from anyone?

You might want to wait a bit longer before trying again, although your circumstances have changed. It would be better if you got married.

I have been living in Canada for 9 years now. I want to visit because my family goes there to shop and they go away on trips and I never get to go. Is my family ties not considered significant enough? My family's pretty well off. And as I said, we have a child here together.

Well as someone else said...getting married would help a lot as it's much easier to break off an engagement than it is to divorce. They don't consider fiances to be as strong of ties as they do spouses.

I should also mention that my mom and dad and little brother live here too. Like my family ties I believe are pretty strong to Canada. But I guess it's a matter of convincing them.

It seems logical to us, as the applicant, that having family in your home country counts as one of the strongest ties possible. However, to the interviewing officer they consider that there are tons of cases all over the world where people either abandon their families or one says 'I'm just visiting for a few weeks' and then they never come back, try to adjust status inside and bring their family over. It's all these idiots that make it a stressful process for those of us who go about it the legal way.
