My husband and I are living in New Zealand. I am the American Citizen and he is applying for the greencard. We are up to the point where our case is complete but they are asking for more information to be brought to the interview once it's booked. Here's the checklist information as received by email today with what they are asking for:

F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
NVC has completed the review of this case. However, our review of the
I-864, I-864EZ, I-864W or I-864A (if applicable) Affidavit of Support form
and supporting documents that you have submitted indicates that there is
still some missing documentation.
We are sending you the attached checklist, which indicates which
documents are still missing. You should obtain these documents and
forward them to the visa applicant so they may be presented at the final
interview. The applicant must present all required forms and documents,
including the missing items to the Consular officer at the visa interview.
Please pay specific attention to questions marked in the attached I-864,
I-864EZ, I-864W or I-864A checklist.
Failure to present the missing items indicated and/or to make the
necessary corrections at the visa interview could result in a denial or delay
in obtaining a visa for the sponsored applicant.
If you need a new I-864 form, please visit the Department of State website
at the following address: www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and read the
Affidavit of Support (I-864) instructions. From there you can fill out the
form online and print it to send to the visa applicant for the interview.
You will be notified when an interview has been set. Do not contact
post regarding your interview date until you have been notified.

Checklist)
Please review the instructions below then refer to the final page of this checklist for mailing
instructions.
I-864, Affidavit of Support Checklist
[x] The NVC recently completed our review of your visa case. While you meet the minimum qualifications for a visa
interview to be scheduled your Affidavit of Support contained one or more sections with missing or incorrect
information. Please review the additional instructions below then complete a new Affidavit of Support. (You can
download the I-864 form and instructions at http://www.uscis.gov/i-864.) Once you have completed the new
Affidavit of Support, please provide it to the principal applicant to bring to his or her visa interview. Do not submit
your new Affidavit of Support to the NVC, as doing so will reopen your case and cause processing delays.
In Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment, please correct the following...
[x] Item 13.a. You must include your _____2012__________________ tax and income information. If you did not file
Federal income taxes in __________2012___________ submit an explanation stating why you did not file.
[x] Items 13.a.1. The income you enter must match the total (gross) income reported on your most recent Federal
income tax return. If you filed Form 1040EZ, use the adjusted gross income instead.
The first time I sent in my I-864 I got a checklist and said my gross income did not match my tax transcript. I realized I had entered my income but because I have a foreign earned income exclusion my actual income on my tax return is $0. I resent this in $0 as my income and they have now sent me the checklist above also saying they don't have my tax information and that it doesn't match my total income.
They say all the information for my joint sponsor is submitted and ok so it is really just a matter of getting the details right on my form.
I ran two different people at NVC and got 2 different answers. Now I'm just confused
Any advice on exactly what they're looking for would be appreciated.

Has anyone applied for a visa from abroad? Did you put your total foreign earned income on the I-864 or $0 because of the foreign earned tax exclusion?

I am curious how this turns out since I am in a similar situation. USC living abroad and only have foreign income. I am filling out my I-864 and I am pretty sure foreign earned income is NOT included. So $0 should be the amount used in question 13.a Is this correct?

Anyone have any feeback?

I hope I'm reading and understanding correctly but you need to make sure the $ match on your tax transcript and the 864. It is the adjusted gross amount is it not? What amount is actually on your tax transcript?

They couldn't READ one of mine because the scan was very light and I got a letter saying the amounts didn't match even though they did.

I have been meaning to post the outcome to this question for awhile as my husbands process is now complete and his visa has been approved.

I can only speak about what our experience was with the New Zealand Embassy but hopefully it's helpful.

The NVC was not happy with any amount I put on my I-864 but anything that is out of the ordinary seemed to confuse them in my experience.

On the interview day I took a blank copy of the I-864 and one with $0 in the 2012 income total as this is what actually matched my transcript after the income tax exclusion.

New Zealand actually used the one with the $0 in the blank but were extremely helpful and knew exactly how it should all work and didn't seem to have any issues. I did email them about this issue and would recommend ringing or emailing where you will actually be interviewed because they may be able to clear up the confusion.

They did want a current bank statement so make sure you take that. We had just sold our house to we took our signed contract so we could show them assets we had as well. They were happy with that and actually adjusted my I-864 for me on the day.
