Friends:

I'm sending the AOS bill to MO, today with the $70 payment for my wife's CR1 application.

Can my co sponsors start filling out their I-864 and getting them notarized, or do I need to wait for a packet from NVC?

When is the I-134 afadavit used?

I believe the I134 is used for non-immigrant visas (such as K3 and K1).

I believe the I864 is generally acceptable for 6 months. I'm still not familiar enough with the NVC process to remember where you are in it, and when the I864 is required, so hopefully someone else can clarify :)

NOA1: 5-10-2006----updated w/ citizenship: 9-25-06----had to call back 10/25, touch 10/26

12/06/06 - Approved!- - - 12/08/06 - Touch---01/25/07 - Touch

I130 at NVC

12/14/06 - case number assigned

12/25/06 - DS3032 & AOS Fee Bill Mailed (phone system updated 12/27)

12/27/06 - emailed choice of agent; 12/29/06 - received email from NVC confirming choice of agent!

01/01/07 - NVC generated IV Fee Bill (postmarked 1/17 though!)

01/03/07 - returned AoS Fee Bill via Priority Mail (James' shortcut)

01/15/07 - NVC generated AOS package

01/22/07 - received IV Fee Bill - overnighted back to NVC same day

01/27/07 - recieved I864 package; 01/29/07 - overnighted I864 to NVC

01/29/07 - DS230 generated (phone system not updated, email response 2/5/07)

02/05/07 - mailed DS-230 to NVC via express mail

02/20/07 - CASE COMPLETE!!

04/18/07 - INTERVIEW!!!! - APPROVED!!!!

Michael's K-3:

09/28/06 - NOA1

1/25/07 - approved ...NOA2 via snail mail - 1/29/07

03/16/07 - chose not to return packet 3 to Montreal

The I-134 is used at the K-3 visa interview.

Only The I-134 gets notarized, the I-864 does not get notarized.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

summer fling failed to fizzle, married 2003

I-130 mailed 12/15/03

4/1/04 no word from NE contacted senators office, app found

NOA1 4/13/04

Gave up on ridiculously long US process-started Canadian

12/4/04 submitted app

LSS app returned because of missed signatures, lost in transit, resubmitted in June

9/28/05 landed, yippie

10/4/05 fly back to US to "finish up Master's" lose mind and switch to PhD

Damn it back to the US process

3/something/2005 finally get NOA2, no idea why it took so long

4/15/07 get case approval from NVC

8/9/07 Montreal here we come

10/14/07 hubby activated his visa

Yes, they can fill it out now and have it notarized to save time.

Phone the NVC in 10-14 days and listen on the automated response systen to find out if the packet for the 864 has been generated.

As soon as it has, you can send yours and their's in.

The I-134 is for a K1 and I believe a K3 as well. Since you are doing a CR1-all you need is the 864 for you and one from your co-sponsor.
