I've filed taxes for 2012. 2010 and 2011 I was living and working in China, so I did not file taxes, even though I'm "supposed" to. Earlier this year, I sent in 4852 forms for 2011 and 2010, but I did not receive anything back from IRS. When I try to order transcripts for those two years on the website, they are also not available.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I just want to get these past years' taxes properly filed so the clerks at the Chine Guangzhou embassy can tick whatever boxes they feel the need to tick.

you have originals or copies of what you filed for those years?

if so ...

make 2 sets of each year.

WALK into an IRS field office.

Have clerk stamp each set, each year.

IRS keep one set for each year.

YOU keep one set for each year.

Walk out of IRS office.

That's the fastest way.

I'm a fool for mailing them in without making copies. But going directly to the IRS office is a good idea. If for some reason they just "don't have them," I'll just fill them out again.

Just called IRS. Actually, I already filed 2010 taxes, they're sending me the transcript. I failed to give some forms for 2011, so I'm getting on that right away. It seems though, that when she goes in for the interview, she will only have 2010 and 2012 from me. Hope it won't be a big issue. I'll make a note 2011 taxes have been file and are being processed.

2012 taxes done. 2010 done, transcript will be here in a few days. 2011, they said will take "six to eight weeks" to process, so she won't have that at the interview. Nothing I can do about that now except send the missing 2011 documents out today, and that's that.

I say give it a whirl for 2011..

A stamped thing with an IRS stamp on it trumps a lot of silliness.
