YES go to the SS office and bring passport of your baby and birth certificate if born here in the US .

Very good advice. You gotta go to the local SS office to take care of this and take all documentation with you that verifies that you child is a US citizen and/or a legal resident. Best of luck!

Thank you guys :) i just dont remember if i filled up a form there in Philippines for my daughters ssn during the process of crba & us passport. I think there's no form given right? For ssn while applying crba & us passport.,, :) coz we called the ss office about it and told us that we just have to wait for the ssn to be mailed. But like i said i dont remember filing up for ssn...

When i did my son's crba and passport the ssn form wasn't included. Once i have the docs (passport and crba) i went back to the embassy (with the docs mentioned) and went to the ssn area (beside where the crba interviews are held). When my number was called i was given the ssn form and i just filled it up - gave it back to them. They needed my son's husban and at that time i dont have it so i guess they looked it up instead amd wrote it himself. The turn around for the card to be send is ~1-2 wks.

i just recently got my daughter's ssn. what i did since i live far from manila was that i sent them thru air21 my child's passport + crba + my passport and the application form. then sent it back to me after almost 2 weeks. But the ssn was already approved and said that i have to wait for the card. after almost 5 months, i received it from the mail. PI postal sucks.

The American Citizen Services section does not process requests for children's social security numbers. Although there is a reference to obtaining a social security number on the appointment system, Embassy Manila has a separate Social Security Administration office.
