K1 Process after NOA2....NO CLUE

I am a bit confused about this process at this point. I have tried calling the NVC and the person on the phone said, "I dont know any process, I just answer phones".

My K1 was approved 3 weeks ago. Then last Wednesday i get an email that its being sent to the Department of State for Visa processing. After this i am pulling blanks. I have called them 3 times and still no case number. They say to call back next week.

Even if i get the case number, what do i do with it? I have heard some say that you email the consulate. What is their email address? What do you wrtie in the email?

Shouldnt the consulate call you to schedule interview? When and how do i get the packet 3? SO LOST. The amount of time this is taking. Our life is on hold due to this. How much longer??

Relax :) it can take 2-4,5,6,7 weeks for the conslulate to receive your case. mine took about 36 days maybe more. if you want to email the consulate go to the website and find "contact us" and there you go.

you dont have to email the consulate with the NVC case number, unless you want too for specific information. as far as packet 3, the embassy will make sure you have everything you need :) it's a hurry up and wait game.

the consulate will notify the USC. if its bugging you, start emailing the consluate about the status of your case, or if it has been received. Get all your DS forms together, Support forms and supporting support info.

Get medical done, ASAP. paying is consular specific - we paid online, but you could also pay at the embassy. the cost is 240.00 USD ( i think) Our medical was about 350.00 - that included his XRAY and shots.

the embassy will instruct you on how to schedule, or they may schedule for you. everyrthing you need to know will be in your letter from the embassy.

1. Call the Department of State at (202) 663-1225 and work through the menu's until you get to a human.

2. Give the polite individual from the DoS your USCIS receipt number and ask if your case has received a Number.

3. Regardless of #2, visit the website of the consulate/embassy you're most likely to use and find Packet 3 information; begin filling this out.

Once you have the case number, you can start moving towards sending in a completed Packet 3 to the embassy.

Since you're from the Philippines I suggest you check out all of the other VJ'ers who have gone this route. Tons of them, you're in good company :)

To first poster with India ties, you can call NVC to see if # assigned; till then try to be relaxed and patient. It takes time. When I did get thru to the NVC, they said, yes, this is the number BMB------- etc and it has already been sent to the consultate, so it was kind of after the fact. They gave me the dates received from USCIS and date sent to DOS. The US Consulate General sent both my fiance (the beneficiary) and myself an email, showing an interview date and time; and links in the letter to get information: 'Please ensure you visit the following link to prepare for your interview." this is direct from Consulate letter:

Failure to read and follow instructions provided may result in your visa being delayed at the initial interview.

The Packet 3 was not sent via mail in our case nor was Packet 4 as it is referred to; we just pulled the forms from the website; prepared them and sent one set via mail and kept another copy for the interview stage. There were emails sent back and forth, for what was needed, where to get medical, all of that was provided - plus you can set up a visa account. Just read everything when it is given to you, from Consulate/DOS. It will show or have links to the forms, pull the Instructions also, not just the forms, as that is where a lot of info is provided - good luck - happy journey!

Prepare for Packet 3, the Medical & the interview now while you wait.

You can get packet 3 for Manila here and for New Dheli their K1 page contains the list of what you need. You'll likely need to bring/ship the USC's certificates with you (birth/death/divorce) as well as a fresh new original of the Intent to Marry (sign in blue ink on a magazine so the imprint is visible).

Go through the interview questions with your partner. They're going to ask about previous relationship, finances (where he/she works, how much do they make, do the rent/own, etc), Family (where does his/her parents live, does he/she have any siblings, etc).

Start buying the necessities and prepare the house for their arrival in the US. The more you prepare now, the faster things will go for you. smile.png

Good luck!
