Hello Everyone,

I just have received my NOA2 yesterday and i was so happy the we have been approved after long wait.Thank GOD^_^. I was reading and reviewing about the next steps after this and its the form I-134 affidavit of support. there is a part that i dont understand which the #1 question about US citizenship. i became a US citizen through my parents because my dad served the navy for 10 years but there is a blank in there asking for a Certificate of citizenship number=(( which is i dont have. when we applied for my citizenship i only have a passport that proves i am a citizen but no certificates have been given.I have asked my mom about this but she said it expensive and a very long wait to apply for a certificate of citizenship but all i need is the number.cray5ol.gif

Is there other way to make this work if i dont have a certificate of citizenship number?i am so overwhelmed by fear right now. me and my fiancee came this far i hope I dont fail her now..Please anyone help me..PLEASEsad.png

It sounds like you acquired derivative citizenship through your parents. Derivative citizenship is citizenship conveyed by operation of law to children born out of the US through birth or naturalization of parents. Provided conditions are met (below 18, living with parents in the US etc.) the child's citizenship is derived as a matter of law and need not be acquired through application which means you are by all rights a citizen without need of undergoing a formal process. In some cases, the child can file for form N-600 to get a certificate of citizenship. If you don't have this document the easiest way to answer the items in your form I-134 is to choose "c. US citizenship derived from some other method" and attach a separate letter explaining your derivative status.

Sein oder Nichtsein, das ist heir die Frage.

thank you so much for the early reply. that is exactly my case right now.i came over here in US before i turned 18 and my dad was a US citizen then. we applied for my citizenship and had a passport to prove im a us citizen. how can i explain it on a letter?im not real good in explaining things like this. and will they be needing a copy of my passport.?is it A MUST to have a certificate of citizenship number? im so confused..

Yes, your citizenship was already proven with the I-129F petition. You can put None on line b. or put 'US Passport #xxxxxx' or both even, since you have no certificate.
