I got "57% Dixie. Barely in Dixie."

I think the reason I didn't get that high of a "Dixie Score" is because, although I'm a born and bred Texan, my parents are from Long Island, New York. So I've grown up with northern phrases, such as "sneakers" and so forth. ;)

Similar situation here. I was born in NYC but we moved to Florida when I was 4. My parents' way of talking has definitely affected my accent. Dad is from Philly and mom from NYC, yet she doesn't have a strong NY accent, only very slight. My dad's accent is slight too. But they say things like sneakers too. :) And so many northerners have moved to Florida that in this area, you hardly hear southern accents. You have to drive inland 15mins to start hearing southern accents, in our area at least.
