RFE please help

This morning I received a yellow letter from the USCIS.

Request for initial evidence (I-485)

Stating:

"Form I-864 affidavit of support was summited; however, it was not from the petitioner/sponsor.

This confused me because my application to my knowledge included an I-864 filled in by my wife (petitioner) and a separate one from her dad (sponsor) under that first line it goes on to say:

"Please submit a completed and signed form I-864 for the petitioner/sponsor listed on form I-130.

So is this referring to my wife as she is on our I-130? I was assured I sent a I-864 filled in by her though!

The RFE also asks for:

"The joint sponsor on I-864 , affidavit of support, must submit all supporting tax documentation.

So my question is, does this refer to my wife's dad? Again I was assured we had sent in his latest tax return.

Lastly my wife's mom sent in a I-864a might the above refer to her or would they have stated form I-864a in the letter?

I am in need of guidance,

It sounds like you didn't file that package, so you're not sure what went into it? Maybe verify what you think went into it with your wife and her dad, and check they completed the correct forms and included all their tax returns.

The biggest mistake I made was not doing an exact replica, I'm regretting that now. Do you think I should just send in another form filled out by my wife and step dad with supporting tax documentation? Would that be the safest bet?

Does the fact that they say "petitioner/sponsor on I-130" which is my wife they mean her and I might have mistaken to put in her I-864?

It says your wife did not submit an I-864. So do another one and include a 2012 tax return.

It says her Dad did not submit his tax return, but did submit an I -864. Send a complete tax return (tax forms +W2s) or a tax return transcript.

I can reaffirm what nich-nick said if it makes you feel better to here it from more then one person (like it did me). We received a similar RFE and the only thing holding up your case right now is you.

Just to verify - did you put together all the paperwork yourself, or did your in-laws give you a sealed envelope? I ask because you said you were assured you had sent the latest tax return which makes it sound like you may not have been the responsible party in that.

Otherwise, it sounds like something maybe got lost. I would resend exactly what they asked for. Your case is "paused" while they wait for your documents. It will "restart" when they have notified you they are received.
