I see a lot talk about people going to infopass appointments to get information. I am very curious because I know from my experience the phone system even tier 2s have been as useful as a hole in the wall. I've also had the congressmans office contact the nbc directly...and their response is as follows.

NBC continues to receive I-130s and ship them to the field for adjudication. Based on staffing, our current processing time for I-130s is 12 months.

Since I absolutely refuse to believe processing takes 12 months, I am curious about two things.

1. How do you know when your case is at the local field office?

2. At the info pass appointments, what have others attempted to do to get their case done? I am curious about the usefulness of the appointment and what others have gotten out of it...

As a third, is the infopass required to get the I-130 from noa1 to noa2?

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

1. you ask an ISO at the USCIS call center:

a. what date was the casefile transferred to the local office

b. Which local office is it at ?

----

do it in that exact order, and you'll get some answer.

for fun infopass searching here - you could use the advanced search tool, find my stuff.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

follow darnell's advise

the infopass does NOTHING to help with approval, it will let you know the workflow at that particular office

I went two times.. once to try to find out if my wife's name was fixed, second was to hammer them for not sending it to NVC

3. no. however, is useful to go in to learn if the casefile has been assigned to an adjudicator, and is useful after approval to learn if the casefile is pegged to go to NRC or NVC, and is useful after the interview to learn WHEN the casefile actually left the building, as there are required steps after approval to create the A-File.
