Which number is Nonimmigrant Visa Number

On my UK visa I have a 14 digit Control Number, an 8 digit A number and an unlabelled 8 digit number in red ink.

Do I enter this latter one into the 'Nonimmigrant Visa Number' area on my I-485 application?

I'm pretty sure the "A" number is the alien number assigned to you and should be the one you apply with. My wife's application had this number but the one for her son was blank. The USCIS will assign him an alien number after acceptance of his application. I had an attorney prepare the one for my wife and upon review of those forms I found that her "A" number was the one used. That is also the one on her green card now.

We went to the local USCIS office to confirm about not putting a number on his application even though his I-94 had his mother's "A" number written on it.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to put Darcy's A# that we received on the NOA2. I will now put the red number in that spot.
