I-864 question needs your help

Hello all members and mods. We are confused about I-854 Affidavit of Support form that needs your help.

Because my income does not meet the requirement, we got a relative who is willing to support/sign the form. My questions are:

1. Do I still have to fill the form I-864 if my relative's income alone is enough to sponsor for my wife? A friend of mine told me I still need but he was not sure.

If I don't, then I guess my relative will check "1d" box (I am the only joint sponsor) for the Part 1 Basis for Filing Affidavit of Support" question. Is it correct?

2. If I still need, which box should each of us to check for the above "Part 1" question?

you are the Sponsor yes you have to fill out a I-864. You relative is the joint sponsor. and they fill out a I-864 also.

I'm sorry to bring this topic up as I am still a little bit confused at some points relating to my situation:

1. My relative (joint sponsor) and I are both filing I-864 forms. Is that correct?

2. My wife should be counted 1 in my relative I-864 form as he is sponsoring her. And only his income (which meets the requirement) will be used in his form. Is that correct?

3. Should I count my wife as 1 in my form? I'm just not sure since my income does not meet the requirement and I'm worried that it could be duplicated (with my relative form)

Any advices from mods/members would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

1. Yes

Your relative counts your wife when he completes his form.

You are required to count your wife as the person you are sponsoring when you complete your form.
