I don't check the status of our case on the USCIS web site too often, but today I did and it said this [...] we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN and we sent an I-129F, not an I-130... also, when we gout our NOA it was up to date to June, not May and said I was given an alien registration number (or something of the sort) and now that's gone and it says we filed for an I-130.

Is this normal? How reliable is their web site?

The USCIS website has hiccups all the time.

Double check your receipt number when you type it in, though!

I think I saw a notice that they're doing maintenance on the system this weekend, mind you, so if it still comes up as that, give it til Monday and check again then. :)

It's so strange, I logged in again, same receipt number and now it's updated again and says [...] your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Guess I have to get used to their web site! Is there any way I can find out my alien registration number or is it too early? I was assigned one at the start of this month.

Ah well, I was sure I sent the I-129F and got paranoid when I saw I130 before.

Thanks for the fast reply!

I don't know that you can find your A# out from the service centre, but it's not useful to you anyway.

What you'll want is your case number (starts with the 3 letter code for your local embassy i.e. mine starts LND), which is a different thing, that you'll get after approval, by calling the NVC (or waiting til your local embassy sends it in Packet 3).
