Problems with DL insurance

Before I can apply for US DL I have to have insurance. My husband tried to put me to his insurance today but they want my driving record from my country. Otherwise we have to pay 200$ more ever month. I got my licence 10 years ago and my register is empty. All cases older that a year are automatically deleted. I can see my register online but I can't print it out. And to get it on paper I have to go there in person and apply for it.....

Have anybody have same kind of problem? What should I do?

Take a screenshot of it and see if they'll accept that.

You can have a DL without a car, so are you sure this is for a DL and not car registration? What state are you in? There's no such thing as a "US" DL.

In NC you need a proof of insurance for driving test. You don't have to be put on the policy though, there is a short form your husband's insurance agent should be able to provide free of charge. Again, this is only for purpose of driving test and getting DL. If you want/need to be permanently added to the car insurance policy, I don't think they will accept your overseas driving record to get a good driver rate. But if your insurance company is willing to do that, that's great. Print out the screenshot and give it to them.

thats ridiculous that u needed an insurance before u can obtain a license. i thought all u needed was to pass the theory and practical test. different states with different laws and protocols

To pass the driving (practical) test you need to drive a car. You must have insurance coverage to drive the car. Simple, isn't it?

@OP: Tell your husband to go to his insurance agent and get form DL-123. As mentioned before, this is free of charge, but only good for your driving test.

From NC DMV web page, you only need #1 to get the DL:

Proof of Liability Insurance Acceptable Documents.

Listed below are acceptable documents you can use:

1. Form DL-123 from your insurance agent
2. Vehicle insurance policy reflecting your name and the issue and expiration dates
3. An insurance binder
4. An insurance card with your name, the policy number and issue and expiration dates

I went through the whole thing many, many years ago. My (now) wife is dealing with the USCIS for the last 4 years This process sucks.

Sometimes you just need an additional support - and it is even better if it is local. Take care and hug your husband.

Edit: I've never been to Estonia, but do you know that our current state human services secretary (Aldona Wos) was an ambassador there under GW Bush?
