Be prepared for months to fix this.

I'm actually sad you not get into a CBP inspection office to fix this.

But that's ok.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Ya I'm so happy it all worked out!

YAY!!!!

:)

So, now we don't have to apply to have the conditional aspects of the green card removed after 2 years right? We just apply for citizenship after 3 years?

Awesome! Also, one last question, do we need to inform any agency (homeland security, etc..) when my wife leaves the US temporarily for a month or so? Or does she just go to the airport and show her green card and passport to the immigration officer?

Nope she can just go. You only need to notify someone if she's going to be out of the country for extended periods of time (over 6 months) in case she needs a reentry permit.

I agree with NikiR but would like to add that you need to keep track of the days she’s outside of the country for when she is ready to naturalize. I’m just going to keep my boarding passes or whatever so I have that info on hand easily.

Make sure her name is inside your mail box. My daughters wasn't and they sent the card back. it turned into a difficult situation that cost us two months to get it back.

I had to wait until USCIS notified S S to get my card or at least a card that would allow me to work.

What's this about a mailbox? Is this for apartments only? I live in a residential home, one mailbox for all 3 floors. No names or anything. Will that be a problem?

Yes that's for apartments. For instance our mailbox for our apartment has our last name on the inside so that they know they're getting the right one. But they still mess it up all the time. LOL

Are you the only person living in your home?

If you live in a small town this can happen with a residential home.

Your mailman knows your box so they'll assume it's an accident being there.

I had this happen when I sent a package to my ex's parents house

Presumably, if you have the same last name, no issues, but if you don't and you have any reason for concern in a small town, you can simply let your local office know.

Do a test. Send yourself a letter with only her name to your address.

in general terms -

if there is a name card on the mailbox that contains all of the names of the people that receive mail there,

then the mail will be delivered.

if the postman not recognize the name then will 'nix' it back to the office that produced the greencard.

you might want to get together with the 3 families and MAKE a namecard that contains all names.

USPS postal carriers really don't care much any about anything until you 1] help them or 2] make a big fuss.

this falls under category 1] . (for the making of a name card)
